You guys hear Orpik's interview after the Sens-Pens game tonight? He had some good things to say about the Isles. He was asked about the difference between playing the Sens and Isles: "As a defenseman, it's a lot easier to have a good gap on these guys; they usually have 5 guys back -- occasionally they'll have a stretch guy which holds you back a little bit. Whereas the Islanders, they were probably the best we've seen all year transition-wise -- if we turned the puck over in the neutral zone it was a 3-on-2 coming back, and they come back quick. They were a lot better than people gave them credit for. I don't know if we underestimated them -- we said we didn't, but they were all we could handle. We got pretty lucky there in game 6 to beat them."

Boyes was god awful in Buffalo, but I'm curious about what he did or didn't do to gain a reputation of a player who should not be resigned no matter what. He had 10 goals and 25 assists. Clearly he's not first line material, but those are decent numbers for a second liner. Was it that he was only good because he played with Tavares? I don't care if you guys resign him or not I just want to know why he needs to go so badly.
Snow was on HNIC radio and briefly mentioned allowing spots for the younger players. This move doesn't seem very conducive to that. - TheRollingPuck
You still need one guy who can punch players in the face when the time comes, and then polish the seat in the penalty box with his a$$, and he is the winner.
Snow signs an enforcer every year. Boulton will be around just in case, but will be about as significant to the team as he was this season.
Who really has a major problem with seeing more of this? Great tilt:

Boulton sucks, one fight doesn't make it a good signing. Not a fan of Boulton don't really think he's all that effective for the most part. Rarely fights, doesn't play an overly physical game and doesn't offer much else. With that said its not that big of a deal either just don't see what the rush was? Just don't sign boyes garf

Boulton does suck, the problem I have is that it takes up a roster spot, when Snow has all off-season to sign him or even look for a better player to fill that position...
Hes not even a good fighter either... But the players or team like him.
Don't get the logic to hurry an sign him after the season was just over ..
I also think Snow has a thing for all washed-up ATL Thrashers..
maybe he should look into Sim....
Ryan Reeves Stl Blues.... (trade)
Bryan Bickell Chi Hawks... (FA)

He's like a poor man's Moulson. He's an average skater, doesn't go to the tough areas, and is poor defensively. He's a perimeter player and is everything you saw in Buffalo (he sucks). I personally feel he dragged down the first line and I don't want him any where near the Isles ever again.

Could not have written it any better Isles have to raise the bar and there should be no room any longer for a guy like Boyes with the Isles. Maybe with MM Isles not anymore.

With that said we can expect a three year deal next week

in most cases he's pedestrian. It seems the only time he shows any skills is when he is completely uncontested, which is probablg why he excels in shootouts. We have a special place for highly skilled players who can't deal with the limited time and space in the NHL, it's called the AHL.

I've really developed a distaste for Pierre during these playoffs. Everything he says seems to be done only to support the team of his preference - keaner17
Watching the Bruins Rangers and the Bruins passing was outstanding, something worth watching for Isles since this is a high skill level aspect needed for playoff hockey. Cannot spend sixty minutes just playing the 200 foot game which Capuano stresses because not every playoff team opponent is vulnerable to only one offensive style.
Nino with a goal and an assist against the U.S. He has 5 goals and 3 assists in 9 games, and the Swiss are going to play for the gold. Think it's been a successful tournament for him, and I'll say his time was better spent playing in those games rather than being a cheerleader over here.
Actually I'm watching the replay of that game and Nino looks great. Moving well, hitting and knocking over anyone around him and he's had several good chances in front of the net. His goal was nice, although I don't know how the U.S. D-men left him that wide open.
Exactly....the day they give a team two extra roster spots for players you can only use during the shootout, I'm signing both of them. If hockey actually needs to take place, they can watch from the seats until it's over.
