You want a top prospect, a great 4th 3rd line role player, a 1st and a second? Is Miller Lundqvst?

Niederreiter and a first for Vanek...provided there's some assurance he doesn't bolt after next season (sign and trade, or something like that).

macdonald is replaceable with anyone else on the team in my crazy world. sabres will just need a roster player in return

and the NHL seems to be a league of reputation when it comes to players. miller will be overpaid for because he won the vezina and was an olympic hero, regardless of how slightly above average he has been since

that seems reasonable. i can see him wanting to sign there. hes never played with a center even remotely close to as talented tavares

Blown a bit out of proportion, I think. His agent was grandstanding and Nino probably wasn't happy about being in the AHL, but his recent interviews at the Worlds talk about "very good discussions" with the Islanders since then.

I don't think Miller is as good as he once was. Hes declining and too risky.

i think everyone agrees with that. well actually his stats this year are pretty much his career average and he had just 1 anomaly of a great year

but like i said, hockey is the old guys club. where any coach who had success is guaranteed a job and any one time great player is guaranteed a contract

thats why i think hes still going to be worth a lot

he was good this year wasnt he?

in buffalo he was the victim of being forced into a supreme defensive role under linda ruffles

He put up decent numbers, but he is not the right player for the first line & he doesn't fit anywhere else in our line up.

If you are making that trade it better be for Jonathan Bernier not Ryan Miller

I think something like Nino and a conditional first rounder for Vanek might work...Buffalo gets a first rd pick if Vanek signs a long term contract...if not a 2nd round pick.

Eh, I'm actually a Miller supporter. I think unlike a lot of the statistically elite goalies in the NHL, Miller never really benefitted from a 100% commitment to D from the coach's systems, to most of the forwards, to even some of the D-men...going back to the "fun and gun" days, but even afterward. Miller faces not only a lot of shots every year (most in the league this year) but probably a lot more quality chances than some of the other goalies around him...not just pucks that sneak through a phalanx of defenders from the outside. Maybe as a result of how busy he is most nights...yeah, he tends to give up weak ones that probably drive Sabres fans crazy. But I do think Miller is good enough where if he was behind a team built around taking away shooting lanes, his numbers would look quite a bit better and the amount of soft goals would decline. And I'm not at all saying the Isles are that defensive team...I just think it's not an apples-apples comparison with some of the other goalies that have five players on the ice most of the time committed to keeping the front of the net clear and making sure pucks that do get through come from bad angles...like the Bruins or Devils of years past.

no

There's never been a goalie in NHL history that has commanded a haul even close to that but I guess Miller is the exception eh? Goalie who's never won a cup, has a bad attitude and is getting to the end of his prime. hilarious
