Neal must be the luckiest guy on earth. His carreer so far has been made playing with great stars/set up centermen. First B.Richards on his prime playing LW and now Malkin and occasinally Crosby. - Orpik44
Maybe he should change to "add another dimension" to it - Orpik44
He had a mean streek with Dalas, but not so much these days. He needs that mean streek again. A good scrap will do a lot for a guy. Every time Iggy went into a slump, he would scrap.

#Caps’ star winger Alex Ovechkin played with a fractured left foot in Games 6, 7 against #NYR http://wapo.st/12ymf10
Apparently happened early in GM #6 (Caps led series 3-2). Gotta wonder if that changes the fact that they got shutout in games 6 & 7?
Also speaks to the amount of pressure that European players have put on them to play for their country in a tournament that North America barely pays attention to.

If it was so serious he wouldn't be playing for Russia now.

Why not? European countries care more about international success than NHL success. Same reason Forsberg played for Sweden in 2006 when he could barely fit his foot into a skate.

I'm guessing that he didn't have a whole lot of choice in that.
There are rumors that Malkin needs shoulder surgery this summer, but you gotta bet that he'd be playing for Russia today if the Pens were eliminated last round.

I admire that. I wish OV was traded to Philly so we could renew the rivalry.

In other Worlds injury news, I guess Sweden's Alex Edler (Canucks) blew out Eric Staal's knee with what everyone is saying was a dirty hit. I haven't seen it, the youtube videos seemed to be pulled down for copyright infringement.

I think i know the play. He had a shift where he blocked 3 shots in a row (yes really) and one hit him in the foot. Then he laid down to block the 3rd right after. I thought i was dreaming. One of the most admirable shifts i can recall seeing him take.
are you trying to steal from poor Leonsis? - Orpik44
That dude's horrible. Fans of other nearby teams (and really, some not-so-nearby teams) filled the Caps arena for years because their fanbase sucks, and is fullof frauds.
All of a sudden, they get good and the fans come out of the woodwork. So Leonsis decides that, unless you have an address is the greater DC area, you can't buy tix. Arrogant bumhole.

Yeah... this is apparently it:
He brings a lot on himself, but the guy can't win. He lets those shots go through and they score, then the Milbury's of the world question his heart.

Yay... bad hit. No reason to come into him like that. - rival22
It was dirty. He came down from the blueline to hit Staal who was extended trying to reach the puck. Edler could have taken his center mass and drove him down, but instead he clipped Staal's knee.
If letang doesn't sign and wants rediculous money what would his trade value be? same as staals basically, I good player that is obviously being traded?
Our 10th a top prospect and an average prospect?

Yea that was it, I got the order wrong, it looks like the 3rd one is the one that caught his foot. WWho know though, seemed to get to the bench in good shape.

You guys owe us one for Neal still. - NoobasaurusRex
If Gogo = Neal and Niskanen than I would have to imagine Letang = the rest of the team and any decent prospect you aquire for the next 30 years.
The one nice thing about Malkin still not quite playing like Malkin is that it (probably) increase the odds that we'll be able to re-sign him for around $8.7M a year. Sort of a similar situation with Letang being injured so frequently.

Depends when he gets traded. Traded this offseason with a year left would probably bring a lot, considering his Norris nomination. Remember, Stall limited Shero's ability by basically saying he only wanted to play in Carolina.
This offseason, probably a 1st, Jack Campbell, and either a top-6 roster player or another 1st. If they just did a trade of his rights, he'd probably cost either a 2nd or a mid level prospect.

I really don't mind the Neal for goose trade, both are pretty 1 demensional and streaky as hell.
Just curious of the return you guys are expexcting if letang is traded. And am I the only one who thinks he looks like a werewolf?

This is true, but one thing that Carolina knew, was that Staal would resign there. Whoever trades for Letang is going to want to be assured that he will resign there and what it will likely cost.
And you'd have to get a high pick, but you'd have to get back at least one really good, young roster player. The way this team is set now, you can't wait around for picks and prospects to develop, they would need to be able to plug someone in for another run now.
