I had a contact on one of the teams who asked if I wanted any hockey tickets.

I got a few games but the ones I really wanted was the US/Canada one (again, not the gold medal game, just their first round game)

contact said that would be a tough one but would get back to me.

a few days later, contact texts and says "good news, got you tix for Can/US"

wife and I were pretty excited.


day of the game, we get all ready at the hotel and start walking to the rink. you could feel the excitement building.

we get into the rink and start going up one escalator after the other. I tell my wife they're ptobably not great tickets but we're here so it was still great.

we get to the top level of the rink, loop around it once or twice and can't find our section for poop.

so I ask an usher, he looks at the tickets, looks at me in my Canada shirt and my wife with her Canada sweater and little Canada flag and says ok it's right in there. he points to this little unmarked metal door.

at this point I tell my wife she will probably get raped but we're here so it was still great.

we get in, walk through a door and then everyone just turns and stares at us.


we were in the US team family lounge.

watched the game sitting next to Brian Rafalski's wife and kids.

now she was apparently best friends with brodeur's wife when he was in NJ and after he (frank)ed around with his sis-in-law and the marriage fell apart a healthy level of hate for him developed so each time the US scored she would text her friend and then show my wife all the nasty stuff they were sending each other back and forth.

Kessel's family was also there including the cute sister and so was Tim Thomas' family which basically consists of all Tim Thomas clones different only by their facial hair.

Ryan Miller's mom is a (frank)ing BIOTCH!
