Define talented (for a dman).
Edit: a vet like Scuderi would be nice.

A Dman that is not a specialist in any one aspect of the game but excels in all aspects of the game.

So Scuderi wouldn't fit, as he's not producing enough offensively?

edit: not trying to put you in a box here, just curious as to who you'd like to see

Amazing how some players compensate their "lack of speed" or "loss of speed" with sound positioning and good hockey sense. Hossa sure is one of them.

Ryan White comes to mind as well.

I would love Scuderi on this team.

How old is he ?

8) I'd bet on two things after next season:

1) Andrei Markov will no longer be a part of the Montreal Canadiens.

2) Tomas Plekanec will no longer be a part of the Montreal Canadiens.

If Pleks is dealt, it would be nice if it was for a big talented dman.

I'd be shocked if Markov makes the trade deadline, healthy.

- pete26

I think that if Plekanec is traded, it's for a top-6 physical winger.

He's not playing a very complicated game.

He'd be a very good mentor for a guy like Tinordi, imo.

Galchenyuk is taller and will likely be bigger and is already a better skater. However, Hossa has scoring ability that #27 just isn't ready to show on a consistent basis. Hossa is also pretty sound defensively.

I'd love to see him retire a Habs.

He's still #1 center.

Maybe the next season he falls back to #2
and then #3 until he retires.

He always had the hockey sense and postioning to go with his speed, but he has adapted his game. Some vets can keep adapting and others let their egos get in the way.

Guys like Hossa and Recchi adapt, while guys like Richer fade away becuase they let their egos get in the way.

Hossa and Elias are two guys that are worth remembering even though they won't sniff the HOF.

On a contender team, Plekanec is not a #1 center.

The same way Koivu never was a #1 center.

Beaulieu will be ready sometime next year to replace Markov, Tinordi and Patyern also add size with some grit. Loosing Emelin for the beginning of the season could be a blessing in disguise, giving the kids a shot right off the bat.

Stalberg anyone? Or Bickell?
