they have only 11 players signed, and around 30 in cap space.
They have bogosian (4-5mil I think), Wheeler(5mil), Little (4-5 mil), Burmistov and a lot of spaces to fill.
They could trade for rights beforehand. But I wouldn't be surprised if we see some offer sheets out there this year. the market seems to be right for it on a few teams (like vancouver on tanev, or minny with clutter buck)
I hate offersheets, but I'd rather they jump start a rebuild with a player entering prime, then over pay a 30-35er like clarkson - numbear
Yep, for fwd's they only have 6 signed and 5 UFA and 5 RFA. Perhaps we could put together a multi-player package to help them out. Maybe they would like Tanguay, assumimg we could send him there (NMC) and Horak or Reinhart. I like Stempy but I would put him in a Wheeler package. Cammi, Stajan, Byron... we have options. |

The only problem is I think they would rather try and sign him ... Anyone we would give them would have to have a longer term deal ... Guys who have one year left might jump ship . I think tangs wants to stay in cgy so I doubt he waives . Who knows tho maybe joker can talk a few of the guys into staying there . I like the effort in these moves but I'm afraid other teams can offer more . Wheeler is a guy 29 other teams would want |

CGY's getting too bad of a rep right now. They've got 3 first rounders in the deepest draft in a decade. They've got baertschi and brodie in the system. They've got the right role players on the team. CGY's re-"tooling" should go by fairly quick |

Baertshi will be a hell of a talent sooner than later. I just want the battle of alberta back and exciting.
Any of you flame fans intrigued by a draft trade with the oilers? Our two seconds for st Louis' first? Contingent on calgarys player being taken.
I would love for the oil to have two firsts especially since you fart bags will take Monahan . Lindholm would be a good choice too.
I want the oil to grab Monahan and horvat |

Why not your 7th and 1 of your 2nd's for the STL & PIT picks? Then we could likely draft Monahan and Lindholm. |

MacKinnon looked okay last night I guess.
Scores on the PP, the PK and at even strength. He sucks! I sure hope that Feaster doesn't even try to trade up to get him. |

I agree with all of this. Cap won't be a problem for us for a while here. I'm not sure I want to commit to 5 years at 5 mil per, but if I can get him for 4@4 I'm interested. - jtommyt
I have my doubts that he'd leave NJ for 4x4. |

UFA's are all going to be over inflated this year I think. Let vancouver overpay for them as we watch them turn into the next team going into denial as they sign the sedins for 4 more years, trade lou for nothing and Schneider becomes the next Fleury.
probably best to focussing on the draft, maybe trading up for calgary
Edmonton however probably needs to take the hit and pay for an older UFA for a couple years (morrow or murray come to mind as I doubt pitts can keep them) |

I'd like to see feaster retain salary on vets on our roster and move up on any of our first rounders . There are a few guys we have who could be really good 3rd liners or decent 2nd liners on other teams. If you eat portion of salary they could be enticing
Also wondering if anyone actually watched Reto Berra play in the WHC ? Had good numbers in 4 games , shutout the states to go to the finals. Was this a result of Swiss play or was he actually good ?
As for the draft itself , who we taking ? I hear everyone else say Monahan, is there any possibility top any of the guys after the top 3 slip ? |

Re: Reto Berra, it was both. He played great, but the Swiss team plays a fantastic team game. Really high pressure, no room to move or think... even on the big ice. When Hartley describes the system he wants to see from his team, the Swiss game that we saw at the Worlds is what he's talking about. |

Well at least we know he will be in the conversation come training camp. Encouraging to hear at least. |

It sounds like if seidenberg comes back to the line up it's going to be dougie Hamilton coming out not Bartkowski or Krug . Pretty Interesting to see when redden and ference come back what happens |

What a problem to be in
Hamilton makes some real good offensive plays and while his defense has some work, he's pretty good with that stick. |
