Hudle filpula cammy
Baertchi backlund tangs
Glenx stajan stemp
Horak reinhart jackman
If we got filpula I could see a trade to get at least reinhart into top 9
Still not sure he would come here but one can dream

Agreed. That's why I want Clarkson too. Trade Tangs for a defenseman. |

Go to NHL.com, go to stats, go to individuals on NJ, click Clarkson, go to game log.
Look at his points by game and tell me that you want to invest 25mil in him.

I don't think I want him on the Oilers either. He'll get vastly over paid. He is not going to be able to live up to it. Clarkson is a buyer beware scenario of you ask me. |

Clarkson will no doubt get over paid by some team. The thing with him, though, is his intangibles. If he isn't scoring he is doing other things to help the team win. That is what both our teams could use. I would pay him more than 3.5 but only because we will likely have the cap space for several years and he would be a good guy to have play with incoming kids and show what it takes to win.
I do agree, though, a cap strapped team paying him over 3.5 is hurting themselves unless they magically get him on a shorter term. |

I agree with all of this. Cap won't be a problem for us for a while here. I'm not sure I want to commit to 5 years at 5 mil per, but if I can get him for 4@4 I'm interested. |

4 years would be perfect, I agree. I think that takes him 1yr longer than GlenX. People on here have talked about a GlenX- Clutterbuck line, but Clarkson would be just as good. |

Ok so add Clarkson and Filppula via FA, move Cammi and Tanguay and our fwd lines could look like this:
Hudler-Filppula-?
Baertschi-Backlund-Stempniak
GlenX-Stajan-Clarkson
Bouma-Horak/Reinhart-Jackman (I hate putting those 2 guys as 4th line guys)
Not bad, not world beaters but capable guys that will battle for wins I think. |

If need be put stemp up and reinhart up to his spot ... I want to see him get a legit shot ... At worse 13-15 min a game ... We have to see if some of these kids can play regular shifts |

Does anyone here think with Staal likely out for a bit that they would consider a trade, now, including Cammi and Stajan. Both guys with 1yr left, Staj is a C and Cammi can play all fwd positions and can score. When Staal comes back Stajan will be a #3 C and Cammi could go to 2nd line wing. Add an ok prospect or an ok shut down D like even Sarich who can help with some of their younger D or possibly Butler. Could we get the #5 overall with that or some other variance of this? Thoughts? |

That doesn't help the size in the forwards.
***whoops totally wrong discussion
I'm not a clarkson fan though. He'd cost too much and is up there in age already for that price |

This is a good idea , if we retain a bunch of salary it's a maybe ... But like I've told most of the nucks fans who want to trade edler to Carolina, I think there will be a few teams looking at that pick in a deal... If you could give the hurricanes those players at low cap hit and Staal misses a large portion of the season I think with everyone healthy there they could be good team and could make a few deadline deals for d men which they kinda need ... Good idea tho |

I would love Wheeler. Good size, can be aggressive and can score. Also, he is an ideal age for us I believe. I like Clustterfck as well. |

The only thing is the jets can match any offer with their cap space |

they have only 11 players signed, and around 30 in cap space.
They have bogosian (4-5mil I think), Wheeler(5mil), Little (4-5 mil), Burmistov and a lot of spaces to fill.
They could trade for rights beforehand. But I wouldn't be surprised if we see some offer sheets out there this year. the market seems to be right for it on a few teams (like vancouver on tanev, or minny with clutter buck)
I hate offersheets, but I'd rather they jump start a rebuild with a player entering prime, then over pay a 30-35er like clarkson |
