Do you think, perhaps, maybe, it's because Sutter would kick the living poop out of Stevens if he provides cake or conveniently rearranged the lockeroom to facilitate better mixers? I do.

amusing to me that jagr, who was the 3rd man high on the oddman rush for the GWG curled into the right corner completely opposite of the direction the celebration.

He hasn't really fit in there. Nothing much too it, but he isn't clicking with anyone. The upside is that one game they'll need a goal and he'll get it. Making it worthwhile I suppose

My ridiculous point is it wouldn't be circumventing if it was agreed upon by both sides that there would be two reconstructions per team allowed in the next two years. Since it wasn't, again, it's moot.

My other point was that there are always casualties with every new CBA. Briere just happens to be one this time. Shame.

The Players Association would never agree to what you propose.

Well it's nice that he exchanged his glass flipper for a steel one when he went from Philly/CBus to LA

I agree. He should have strengthened his bones so getting hit with a slap shot wouldn't break his foot.

I don't know exactly what he proposed, but you don't think if you could buy-out of player and then renegotiate, that it would fly with the PA? The players are getting their money still. And instead of this being an option for both CBO, its only applicable for one. Obviously its silly to talk about, since it's not gonna happen, but Briere would be a prime target for that I'd say.

It's my understanding that what he proposed is that the team can renegotiate instead of buying the player out. The PA would no go for that. What you propose, the League would not go for.

Briere doesn't have a place on this team even if his contract could be redone. Schenn or Couturier should be the second line center, and Briere was terrible on the wing this season.

He put up 22 in 48 games... to score 30 he would've had to score 8 goals in 38 games, he'd have to have had an abysmal slump to even reach your top expectation

I'm talking about sustaining it for next year, and year after, and the year after that, etc. At one point, Janathan Cheechoo was an elite sniper.
Not saying Voracek will be like him, just saying that I think he may have trouble maintaining that production on an annual basis.

Personally, I think he can continue to elevate his production. And Voracek's high level of play, dates back further then just this past Season. He has tons of talent.

I hope he can. If he can turn into a 30-40 goal scorer on an annual basis, I'd love it. I'm just scared his shooting % will come down closer to his career % (about 10%) than last year (17%). Even if he shoot 13%, he could still flirt with 30. If he puts up 35, he'd have to maintain a shooting % of 16%, which is higher than Ovechkin has ever shot (save 1 season). Again, not saying he can't do it, I'm just not banking on him maintaining it either. If he just becomes a guy who puts up 25/35/60 and plays good 2-way hockey, I'm fine with that.

There's a lot of factors that you're overlooking here. First of all, in terms of comparing him to Ovechkin. Ovechkin shoots the puck a ton. From anywhere and everywhere. That's why his percentage remains lower. If Ovechkin was far more selective, his percentage would be higher. In terms of Voracek. He's been encouraged to shoot the puck more. So if a player has a 10% shooting percentage, but shoots the puck more, instead of forcing plays that aren't there. Which Voracek does at times. He's going to score more goals.

Well, let's hope he becomes a 93-goal scorer. I'd have no issue with that. I'd also have no issue is he is only a 25/35/60 guy who plays well at both ends (assuming Lavi or some other coach preaches a more defensive scheme...which could lead to more offense though) and remains a key member of both the PP and PK units.

Embracing the notion that his skill set is more suited to playing wing than center ice has helped Jeff Carter. This is something he did not do in Philly or the 5 minutes he spent with his panties in a twist in Columbus.

In his defense, who would want to go to Columbus after signing an 11-year deal?

He really didn't stick around long enough to find out if Columbus was a good fit.

Well, we know for sure LA is a good fit, so I guess Jeff Carter wins this debate.
