I'm sure he did. And like I say, he dealt with that crap every game.
Also, back then, before this "play nice or else" BS the NHL is instituting, it took A LOT to cross the line. Ten years ago, fans would have been horrified that any of the penalties last night were called in a playoff game, and would wonder why they weren't hitting at all. - jmatchett383
I remember Gino Odjick beating up the entire Blues team in the playoffs... and probably played the next night. I miss that hockey too.
Also make goalies wear smaller pads. Complete BS. When I was a teenager I worked as a bus boy at Tambellini's on RT 51. Well anyway at the beginning of the year everyone put in $10 and would get a random team. The first team to score 10 goals in a game well that guy got the cash. It happened a couple times a year. Miss the offense too.
Now the league caters to 3rd liners. Interference is the norm now without penalty.

Interesting piece on the value of Pascal Dupuis. I think we all know how important he's been to this team while he's been in Pittsburgh.
@EyeOnHockey: Is there a better bargain in the NHL than Pascal Dupuis at $1.5 million per year? Not at the moment. No there is not. http://t.co/nY9jkziLqc[url]

Do you think he'll see a raise on the order of base salary $2.5M-$3M this year?

3 years at $2.5M would be rad, and seems realistic to me. It'd be even cooler if they could work some sort of top heavy 35+ contract that brings the cap hit down to $2M per season.

HA Tambellinis! I lived in the NOrth HIlls, I use to drive all the way down 51 to see my then GF/now wife. Such a crappy drive, she lived in the BVA.
But yeah I agree with what you said. GOalie pads are way too big, it just seems there are fewer 40 and 50 goal scorers anymore.

It would be nice. Also, I think he'll stay because he knows (and the rest of the league know) that, for all his skill and grit, his game is helped along by the skill and depth that his team has. He'd still be a good player, but his production would decrease. He'll probably want another 2-3 years, so I'd agree with you. Don't think he'll sign long enough for significant savings though.
haha, thank you for putting the "BY METHOT!!" piece in there. I was wondering if anyone heard the same thing. For a second i was thinking there was a fight, goal, or something interesting rather than a dump in
I actually thought it was smart for you guys not to
Neil wont be intimidated by anyone. Trying to "set the tone" against Neil is basically saying "Give me more"
By not setting the tone, it kinda says, you know what, we understand you are who you are and it wont faze us, we will just win anyways
Not that it matters, cause Ottawa is the "tougher team" so probably smart for Pittsburgh to keep this series between the whistles, and not outside of them like last year with Philly - Alcatraz
One of your "tougher" players supposedly got jarred by an Orpik hit and didn't return.

That'd be ideal for the Penguins. Everything he's said in the past would seem to point to that working for him and his family. But you can't quite rule out a chance of him seeing more from another team. He's put up career numbers the past few seasons. If he had a chance at ridiculous money for him and the Penguins couldn't afford it I would be happy for him and his family if he took it.

But do you think other teams see that an a byproduct of playing with Pittsburgh's immense talent?

Ottawa tougher?
Chris Neil won't drop the gloves with any Penguin no matter what. Gyrba took a solid hit from Orpik and it shook him up. No offense but I think the Penguins are plenty tough.

I think the Pens have tougher players individually but Ottawa is tougher top-to-bottom. That being said, none of the Pens forwards are going to be intimidated by it. The defense worries me more, outside of Orpik and Murray.

Yes and no. He's been a difference maker whether he's played with Crosby or Malkin as his center or with Sutter, Staal or Kennedy. Heck, he's been out there with the 4th line at times. He's a player that a ton of teams would want. Great speed, solid checker, great penalty killer and he can score some elite goals. He's pretty responsible too.

I disagree about toughness. The display of it is more what I see of what you're saying. The Penguins aren't a team like the Bruins or at times the Kings/Sharks. They don't try to compensate for lack of offensive ability with excessive checking. Still, if they have to this roster seems comfortable with getting a bit more...in your face. Not their game but they could play it. It's a versatile group now is what I mean.
Karlsson is still 2 steps behind his former self, and also your picking a play where Karlsson was at the end of a 2 minute shift and dupuis was fresh
All things being considered equal, Karlsson isn't at his top pace, but he isn't playing well right now and Letang was the better dman last night
As for Neil, I don't believe he targeted the jaw illegally in any way. If Corsby wants to play with a cage expect to be targeted. No difference than someone with a weak shoulder, you would expect someone to try and hit them in the boards constantly
Not saying its right, just saying its the NHL - Alcatraz
Anything Neil does is illegal. He can't play clean hockey to save his life.

I saw something online this morning that basically the ref told everyone that it was done, and Neal gave one last shot. Not sure if the CBC had a better replay, but on NBCSN you couldn't see anything. - rival22
If that's the case, it's all on him. He should be blamed and traded
