Still not great in our own end, but much more wide open than the last opponent. The Pens will be tough to beat if you give them that much space.

Vokoun looking shaky is concerning.....

- madmike71

if the pens get this much space consistently, eventually the big guns are going to score. the crosby iginla line in particular is coming so close but just cant connect. although i will say this, i know theyre up 2 to 1 and all but for all the talent this team has, there just does not seem to be the mental makeup of a champion in the heart and mind of this team. still far too often the drop pass and failure to effectively clear the zone lead to rushes and opportunities the other way

Not sure what to think of that period. Still gave up quality chances. That goal was so leaky its not funny. It was Fleuryesque. Too many turnovers as well - mostly unforced.

That said like the puck possession, especially in Ottawa's zone. We had the better scoring opportunities. Malkin looks good except for the penalty. Crosby is raring to go.

Engo with Murray scares me. Shouldn't be in there. ott isn't playing as physical as we thought. So far.

although i will say this, it was nice to see nealer make a play on defense that contributed to the goal. im a big fan of his, but hes been downright useless without the puck for a while now. hopefully that sparks him

I can't argue. With the 2008 and 2009 Penguins I never had these reservations.

Tough to say at this point. Look good on offense, d looks very shaky with Ott going hard to the net. Nothing surprising.

I don't get why Geno was back on the point when he took that penalty, I am much more comfortable with Tanger and Iggy.

exactly. its a little concerning that kennedy is the one playing with the most drive and determination right now. the stars are absolutely flying, but they just need to play smarter, and i still just dont see it.

and i know he wasnt brought in to be an offensive superstar, but it would be sweet to see morrow do something.

Kennedy deserves third line duty over Morrow right now. It's a what have you done for me lately mentality.

This is a different annimal. There is determination but not cohesiveness. The new guys are trying to blend with the returning injured and they look unsettled and their uneven play reflects that to me.

i respect engo for how far hes come, but my god there has to be a better option. i cant figure out what he brings right now. and his weaknesses are made even more glaring being paired with murray.

Anyone else thinking that the one that went of Vokoun's helmet and came back at him off the boards would have ended up in the net against Fleury?

I'm just happy he's doing something. I leave him where he's been effective for now.

i think its more of just a big lack of skill and ability than lack of toughness. that being said, id love to see him out of the lineup. they dont need what he brings to the table right now

Well that spot has been on the third line stealing shifts from Morrow
