There were a few digs from Canucks fans as to be expected, but for the most part most guys were pretty classy with their comments. - As_I_See_It
Well, that's good (and a bit surprising) to hear
We were out at our son's baseball game, checking the score on the phone, I was dumbfounded when I found out it was going to OT, and knew then it wouldn't be a happy outcome. |

I just wouldn't expect much in the way of change. Gillis is married to his investments and has proven (other than with Sundin) that he's afraid to be bold....I suspect it'll be another year of the same ol' same ol'.......... - chompsey
Oh, I disagree, I bet next year Newell Brown is running the defence and Bowness is in charge of the power play, big changes ahead.
and oh ya, Booth will be the big addition over the summer, healthy for another 30 game campaign.

Ask yourself do these teams make those trades for Edler? The answer to all of them is no. If Edler were that good to bring those players in return do you think you'd want the Canucks to trade him? The fact is while Edler has some serious upside he has shown himself to be inconsistant and hasn't lived up to his potential, teams will have an interest in Edler but they will either want to move their inconsistant player or a player who has upside but, like Edler, hasn't demonstrated it yet. - paulr
I think he just needs a change of scenery to live up to his potential. |

Because he suddenly sucks? Or because he's been in a less than ideal situation for his skillset? |

Screw that. I want Brandon Smith - Bieksa#3
No way I'd trade Edler for anything but forward help or a very high pick.
If the Canucks want D, they might as well keep Edler. Smith will likely not even turn out to be the player Edler is. |

I truly don't think its his situation. I do believe he is a head case. Also he is a step slower and seems to have lost that killer instinct when putting the puck in the net. IMO he used to make it look effortless(natural goal scorer). Now he fights the puck. |

I want more then Smith, but of all their young players, that's the one that I'd want |

Yeah, he's probably their most valuable prospect, slightly above Nyquist. But that also means DET values him more, and I'd rather the value come at the forward position—I highly doubt DET would give up Nyquist and Smith in a deal.
TheRealAgent posted a link about Det's other D prospect, Mattias Backman, who's drawn comparison's to Edler and had a very good season in the SEL, and is somewhat under the radar, so he might be easier to get. Or maybe even Sproul or Ouellet.
A package involving Nyquist + Backman/Sproul/Ouellet would be nice. |

Evening gents - Yeti1181
You must be mistaken. There are no gentleman here. Only us.
Sorry bout the loss. Thought the Leafs deserved that game
But at least you got to watch your team for 3 more games than we did |

They got some interesting players. Tatar, and Landon Ferraro as well
I like my duck deal for edler.
Edler for Foligno and Ennis
As for the earlier deal with the Islanders with Lu and Rocky D, I believe we would need more then Nino. Bailey and Nino perhaps?
You can't tell me if we offered Lu for Bryz that the Flyers wouldn't give us a great piece in return |

Nothing gillis has done suggests to me that he'll do anything major, it'll be massages of the roster....a couple bigger wingers, maybe a RH d-man, AV gone but not much else. He lacks the boldness he claimed this organization needed... |

I'm 50/50 on this one. It can be argued that up until this summer he hasn't really needed to do more than a tweak here and there. The team he inherited was trending upwards, then the SCF run, last season could have been perceived as a fluke one off against a really hot team. It's evident now that what we have no longer works in the playoffs and some clear changes need to be made, which he understands. This will be his defining summer as GM. |

This is the deal I'd like to see with NYI:
To NYI: Edler, Schneider (Or Luongo)
To Van: Griffin Reinhart, Nino Neiderreiter
Then maybe send Nino to Buffalo for Vanek! - geeincognito
NY would never do that deal. |

For Schneider they'd be stupid to turn that down IMO. That's two relatively young core players under contract for two promising, but unproven prospects. I agree if it's Luongo though. |
