Man, the trolls love to hate....

Ian could say...."Team X is the most amazing team in the NHL and deserve to win the Cup with the plethora of talent on the roster..."

And people from that team would come in and start spouting off about diving, cheating, riots, no cups, Luongo sucks etc....

Canuck-haters are the classiest bunch aren't they???? Give me something new and original or just go away, I want my trolls to at least be original because intelligent is too much to ask for....

Many fans of other teams have been trolling the canucks blogs doing exactly this.... Most recently the Sharks.... Who employ the next burrows in Tommy I just got a bump and I act like I have been shot with a gun Wingels.... I mean when have you ever seen a Sedin hit someone and actually floor them lol..
- SMP8719

To be fair, all teams do it. I don't blame them. But some are worse then others. The hit you were talking about? Yeah that was bad. Couture is bad as well.

I don't think anyone said that. Its just funny when canucks/canucks fans get on other teams for diving. Do doughty dive? Hell yeah and it pisses me off. But you don't see me going around getting on other teams for doing it. Its called being a hypocrite.

There aren't any vancouver fans that don't think Kesler, Lapierre, Burrows have built a reputation (Sedins get lumped in with them but really is undeserved), the argument is that the Canucks constantly get called on it while LA, SJ, CHI and everyone else doesn't.

I think refereeing needs to be consistent. A penalty in the first should be a penalty in the 3rd, a penalty in a 5-0 game should be a penalty in a 2-2 game. NFL officials don't put away their whistles in the 4th quarter why do NHL officials. It just makes the NHL look bush league that nobody knows what a penalty is.

When a ref 10 feet away doesn't call a penalty but the back ref 100+ feet away does there is something wrong with that I think we can all agree.

I completely agree with you about the refs. It doesn't matter if you are in the first period, or overtime. A penalty is a penalty.

Everyone here is a hypocrite. We all call out other teams for diving. We also call out our own favourite team for diving. Has anyone here said Kesler, Burrows and Lapierre don't dive? No. But when the first page is littered with Kings, Hawks and Sharks fans calling out the Canucks for diving then it makes us all hypocrites. Every single team in the NHL has guys that dive. The problem is that they do it because it works. Often times a dive results in a powerplay for that team. Hence the blog about wanting the NHL to do something about officiating. I would love to see guys get fined for diving. I know that they are supposed to now, but I would like to see it happen more frequently. I think that would help cut down on that problem.

The Canucks basically got chastised two years ago by other markets media (Lots of Ontario/East perceptions) not because they were doing it any more or less than anyone else, but because it was the easiest way to take shots at a (largely) winning team.

The whole who is Canada's team thing? Based out of jealousy from other Canadian markets. That sounds petty, but it really was. No other Canadian market wants to see another Canadian market win the cup, for the most part. It's an age old Canadian rivalry narrative that got translated into a hockey metaphor. I understand why and it doesn't surprise me.

It's frustrating to acknowledge the way your team plays, but have other blatant examples get ignored, is all. Canucks really haven't played that way since 2011, but can't shake it and that's fine. But it doesn't mean other teams are immune to criticism, especially from Vancouver fans.

We're the experts, remember?

I would think Burrows lead the league in minors because he's an all-around c$nt. I know, I know, going out on a limb there, but just sayin'......

yeah, you are totally correct. If the officials weren't so awful the Canucks would have won the Stanley Cup.

Burrows is a total angel too, poor guy. It's not his fault, it's a conspiracy with the officials.

Shut it... you would be whining if your team had 1/3 the powerplays and was swept.... you do realize that out of all the playoff series... only Van vs SJS had such a discrepancy. all the other series no matter the series outcome had very close PP ratios for both teams.
- SMP8719

I would say because all those other series did not have the Canucks in them. Sounds logical, eh?

The title was a dead giveaway that this blog would deliver.

If I was a referee I would put some extra focus on Burrows as well. He's a whiner that tries to get away with little cheapshots and the occasional (under exaggerating) embellishment. The same goes for Lapierre and Bieksa (especially when his big temper starts flaring up).

Ian doesn't say anything about the officiating in the Sharks/Canucks series. He also doesn't defend Burrows.

Good blog Ian! Keep up the great work.

Go Leafs Go! I agree that the Leafs are a dynamite team this year and that Carlyle is a good chunk of that. I don't think he is the primary reason. That being said, the Canucks could learn a lot about his style. I think the Canucks should give AV a few months to 'fix' things, then replace him. By waiting, though, we might miss out on someone like Lindy Ruff. Ruff would be great in Vancouver.

I don't think Burrows was being targeted, but there is some questions I would like to ask the hockey Gods about the referees and their consistency. I cannot fathom that in three NHL games being played at the same time can have three separate outcomes based on a referee's interpretation of the NHL rules. I think the consistency stems from NHL management, including Brendan Shanahan's inconsistency in discipline (fines, suspensions). I agree that the NHL needs to figure out the consistency in refereeing and discipline ASAP, as it is distracting fans and players from the game.

That was the worst dive I've ever seen. And it was done by Thornton.

Ballard's swing was just

Edit: goal by Asham. Holtby should have had that.
