i dislike phaneuf with the rest of em.. but i think he was legitimately hurt from that chara shot on.
- joel878

Blaming Phaneuf and making him the scapegoat would be horribly wrong. Him pinching was his fault a few games back, but this loss was because he was overplayed, and the team decided to go into a defensive shell the last ten minutes in a game they were dominating instead of pinning the exhausted Boston D. Line changes were not as important with a 3 or 2 goal lead.

theres the attitude ive been looking for. you guys had a spectacular season. obviously your disappointed but people need to look at the big picture.
the leafs season was an overwhelming success.

- vancity787

They had a great season. They had a great series. They blew a 4-1 lead in game 7 with 10 minutes left. We're getting used to this losing atmosphere in this city.

Ballard had more success than this ownership group. I wish we could go back to the Stavros years.

round twos going to be fun. theres no clear cut teams with a huge advantage.

Chicago - Detroit - Two Huge rivals. Insanely entertaining games.

LA - San Jose - Two more big division rivals, Big and skilled

Pittsburgh - Ottawa - Shotty goaltending in Pittsburg combined with insane goaltending by Anderson. This series could go deep. And im comfortable saying I think Ottawa will give them a run for there money
b
Boston - New York - Original six matchup. New York Has underachieved all season long and jut got passed the crappiest third seed in the league. I see boston taking it in 5-6

He played a lot better towards the end of the season. Almost night and day to be honest. He was getting caught out of position a lot. When the Isles went on a run at the end of the year, and in the playoffs, he was a stud. The guy puts up decent numbers from the point.

Edit: he would have eclipsed the 40 point mark easily in a full season for a 3rd year in a row. He's something worse considering. He can change the PP around.

He is NOT a bruiser, I can tell u that lol. btw i added to my post u just responded to. He woulda hit 40 points in a full season easily again.

Thats what I want the Isles to do. I know Carkner isnt the best dman, but I didnt think it was a coincidence that the Isles beat the Pens twice in the POs when he was in the game. They lost when he was scratched. Isles need to get bigger, big time.

Grabovski may not have recorded a point in the series, but I have a new found respect for the guy, he took a hell of a beating and kept getting back up and right back at it. Props to Grabo and Dollar Phil for finally shaking his Bruins doldrums. I've already said it before but I'll say it again, Leafs deserved a better fate in this game but the experience will serve them well down the road.

Do you want him back? How about a second rounder for him? What we paid the Habs. He doesn't fit here anymore. He was what? Minus 9 in the series? Him, Bozak, MacArthur, Liles and Phaneuf should all be made available. Leafs need to improve on the back end and at center. We could also stand a few guys like David Clarkson, to firm up the top 9. A little more size, a little more tenacity and we should be good to go, next year.

You guys looked great, in all seriousness. Not to bring up to early, but really what do you change? It seems like not much, you have a great team

Maybe defensive depth...

- RickJames77

Defensive depth for sure, plus center. We need some size that can play a regular shift on the 3rd and 4th lines.

Bandwagon fan?

I've been a fan since the 70's. I've owned season tickets, to hockey and soccer. I'm tired of supporting a team that does not care about my support, other than my money. Check the record of MLSE in the modern time, The Leafs, Raptors, Marlies and FC suck year in and year out.

We get little to no support from the NHL for which we carry financially. We can not sign free agents. We do not get the calls from the officials. The league rules do not support our team. We can not even get a CBC Broadcast staff that supports our team. None of which our executives fight to change.

I'm tired of the losing atmosphere. I could not even give my FC tickets away last year. We've had how many lockouts to help lesser teams beat us year after year?

I applaud our team for making a series against Boston, and overcoming their demons. But this is a game where we had them beat and couldn't put it away. Our team was more worried about quick changes that keeping a flow to the game in which they were dominating. It is ridiculous that they lost this game, that they could not pin a tired and worn defense corp in their own end.

Bandwagon does not describe my support for the thousands I've spent year after year. Ballard was horrible but they never spent 9 years out of the playoffs under him.

- stevecarpetman

Being an Isles, NY Jets, NY Mets, Tottenham Hotspur and St. John's Redmen basketball fan, I feel your pain. I've been there before, especially being a Mets fan, I feel all your pain tonight. I'm 36, I haven't seen a team I root for win anything of major significance since 1986 (I was 9). I still hate Darcy Tucker and (frank)ing Pat Quinn though,

They overachieved. This hopefully will solidify their team into the playoffs for years.

- Beatle_john

I don't know if I'd call it overachieved, but more like, taking the next step to respectability. We had to see what we have on our roster, going forward. What was most exposed, was the inability to take faceoffs, plus being able to hold up forcheckers along the boards. A little more size and strength would have gone a long way, especially in the last 5 minutes of each game.

I hope that we can try to find a way to move up in the draft, as well.

It all depends how well Ottawa, Rangers, Wings and Sharks do. If any of these teams make it to the Semi's, our draft position will move up.

A far greater proportion of teams made the playoffs then, as well.

Please don't compare anything today to the Ballard years. Legend has it that he used the cup banners for drop cloths when he had Maple Leaf Gardens repainted.
