Never been a big fan of the Leafs or their fans, but I feel for you guys today. I know it's not easy, but keep your heads up, you guys have a lot to be excited about in the coming years. The East is going to be a lot tougher now with the emergence of these young talented teams in Toronto and Long Island. Nothing to be ashamed of against a battle hardened Bruins team.

This. The younger core of the team seems like they've grown a lot over the span of the 7 game series. What Nonis needs to focus on now, is to fill a few spots on the roster with playoff-tested veterans.

agree. like replace McClement and guys like O'Byrne and Orr with guys who've been through the wars even if they're way past their prime.

Honestly, They just crumbled.

I think they panicked and nobody stepped up to keep them calm and focused.

Carlyle's decision to put Phaneuf out there after the 3rd goal will go down as one of the absolute worst coaching decisions I have ever seen. Phaneuf almost single-handedly threw this game away.

Their captain was largely responsible for their late push...ours was largely the reason for our collapse. That is a problem.

It is more embarassing...

but it does not hurt more than 1993. This Leafs team was not going to challenge for a cup. The loss in 1993, and the circumstances of the blatant blown call, that cost us the chance to go to a SCF!?

Yeah, 1993 was worse.

- Aetherial

93 was worse cause of the lack of call.
This ...as you said...is just embarrassing. They had the game wrapped up and choked.
They stopped hitting, was soft on the puck, Rebound Reimer continued to be Rebound Reimer - he was shaky all game. The whole team should be embarrassed.

wow. grow up. i didn't say anything provocative.

Um yeah you did. You basically called us Habs fans. We'll see what Leafman sees fit as a proper way to handle this. Seeing as he's one of the most respected and loved people on this site, I'd say there's a good chance you'll get what you deserve. Have a nice break.

what's your take on Phaneuf? didn't see much of the game last night but he just let Chara tower over Reimer on that tying goal. i'm wondering if his thinking was that "no way im moving him so i might as well stay out of Reimer's way"?
- DoubleDown

I did not like him out there, he doesn't move his feet to get to the puck, he wait for it to come to him, I would have had a right hander out there, how many times did he flub a backhand to get it out, problem is we don't have a shut down type guy. It should be on the shopping list, I said before we need a couple more tough winger who fight along the boards and win battles but can pinch in with some goals, a Clarkson type.

Maybe it was because I was a lot younger then but I don't remember it hurting this bad. I'm not upset that they lost last night rather how they lost last night. All the positives of this season and playoffs erased by a complete choke job. Getting the Boston monkey off their back gone due to the collapse. That is what is going to be remembered from this season and that is what will be talked about until they win another playoff series.

Had Toronto tied it late and then lost in overtime I wouldn't feel this way. This utter embarrassment of a collapse has me angered and disgusted this morning.

Can't replace McClement...he's been the biggest reason for our improved penalty killing. O'Byrne and Orr I agree with. Dion has one more year left on his contract, it may be time to consider flipping him for some young players/picks they can use to acquire other dmen. Nonis has his work cut out for him this offseason, but in all honesty, it's not as bad as it seems right now. Sometimes hard lessons are an effective way through which to learn what playoff hockey is about.

I'm going to try to be positive today and not over react, I sent a small timeout to only one.

edit: make that a little more time added to one ban.

I would give the larger credit to the new system, but to each their own.

Uh no, McClement was a massive reason why our PK did a complete 180.

Now's not the time to freak out and start making dumb moves in the off-season; that's reserved for the Canucks.

On a side note. How did the crowd react once they left the Square? Did they actually do Toronto proud and not cause a ruckus?

I'm hearing it was somewhat of a poopshow.

wanna talk about lack of calls? Lupul getting dropped, cross checked and punched, JVR getting his nose broken by a clear-as-day elbow, grabo getting his face carved with a stick... where the (frank) were those calls?

He's earning it. In the span of 7 games, he went from a good, sheltered, 3rd pairing dman, to one of our most reliable guys down the stretch. It's a shame Carlyle was so focused on matchups, that he didn't really see who his best players were in that game. I would have had Colborne and Franson out there after Boston's third goal.
