It's going to be a long series in here. I'm amazed the Ottawa CSI team hasn't shown up yet.

Oh I know. Still better than the Rangers though.

Montreal, the fastest team in the league? LOL. Please. You played Montreal who was injured; undisciplined and terrible the entire series. The Islanders are a lambrogini compared to the midget Canadians in speed, skill and transition.

You might be speedier than in recent years compared to other Ottawa teams, but you pale in comparison to what we just played. Not a knock either. Tone it down a tad.

Your last graph is a joke.

- Oneonta Penguin

They were injured, undisciplined and terrible because we obliterated them with hard body checking in the first two games and they had no response. All their injuries were the result of playing against Ottawa. Also, if the Isles were such a potent machine compared to the Habs all year, why did MTL finish six places ahead of them? Our standing was largely injury related, what was their excuse?

And what graph are you talking about?

This is how I break this series down:

Coaching- Ottawa by a slim margin

Defense- Ottawa by a slim margin

Goaltending- Ottawa by a healthy margin

Offense- Pittsburgh by a wide margin

Special Teams- Pittsburgh

Intangibles/experience- Pittsburgh

If Anderson plays great and Ottawa stays out of the box they could win in short order. If The Pens goalies play well and Andersson is mediocre as he has been the last few years against Pittsburgh the Pens could win rather quickly.

I think we see a little of both and my prediction is Pens in 7.

But they need to bring the effort for more than 2 games this series and I think they will.

You forgot that Ottawa has us in terms of self important douchebaggery of the owner by a wide margin.

The ones that actually talk hockey are pretty cool. Another playoff series against them would bring all the trolls from the far corners of Hockeybuzz.

Any update on a starter?

Also, just got tix to Game 5 (hopefully Wed or Thurs, as I'm leaving Friday). Will be there rocking the Lemieux jersey.

However, I will be walking around town the other days sporting O&B.

Is anyone else getting a bit tired of all the ass kissing the Islanders are getting from the hockey world at large? Did they outplay the Pens in several games and did they make a better showing than many expected?

Yes.

But Jesus H Christ, you'd think that they were team USA and had just downed the Russians at Lake Placid.

Here's a newsflash, the Islanders LOST.

They lost in 6 games, two of which were by scores of 4 and 5 nothing. And if not for some horrific puck management by the Penguins, the series wouldn't have even gone 6.

Personally, I love it. I love it EVERY TIME a pundit like Melrose, Milbury, or whoever calls the penguins flawed or overrated. I hope Bylsma posts each and every quote in the lockeroom and I hope we see a seriously pissed off group tomorrow. Not that they should need the motivation, but I'm glad everyone is down on them a bit. Come together and prove the F*ckers wrong.

Go Pens.

Mario Lemieux > Eugene Melnyk: Mario has more goals and assists than Eugene. If you add up all the time Mario missed in his career due to injury and illness, and add that to his points total on a pro-rated basis, you'll find that he has an infinite amount of points more than Eugene. Also, he had to play with some real rookie schmoes over the years, I would say no less than 38, so when you account for those rookies being more seasoned pros by their fifth year in the league, and times pi by Mario being at approximately 66% of his general playing aptitude now than he was during his prime, you'll see that Ottawa certainly has no chance of winning this series!

This graph ...

Also, I don't know how long it's been since you saw the Sens play but we're a pretty fast team, almost at the same level as the Isles. We just played the fastest team in the conference in Mtl and kept pace with them easily, while outscoring them 19-9 overall. Just warning ya, if the Pens lose, it will be because your D shat the bed and were too slow to keep up with us. Enjoy the series

Do you watch hockey at all? First, Montreal is the weakest two seed there was in decades. They aren't fast; they aren't smart and they had goalie issues. The only reason the Islanders weren't on top of Montreal point wise - they had worse goalie issues and a tad worse defense. Skill wise, offensively, its not close. The Islanders are closer to the Pens in skill level as compared to Montreal. The Islanders blow away Montreal's speed and transition game.

I saw the series. While Ottawa played very well, Montreal sucked. That wasn't all Ottawa as far as why the series went the way it went.

This series should be very interesting. It will be a tough round. No one is taking anything away from Ottawa, especially after the series we went through with the Islanders, who match up with us better with us than Ottawa does. You have a much better defense and better goaltending than the Islanders, but you certainly don't have the speed, the skill or the transition game they had, which made our defense look terrible. Not a knock.

I am starting to embrace the underdog role. Who knew The Mighty Senator Juggernaught would have to visit the helpless Penguins. I just hope the Penguins aren't too afraid of the BEST defence EVER.

No disagreement here, but if I had billions sitting around and nothing to do I would totally ham up a CSI case on a player no one likes to appeal to the masses. That forensic evidence will exonerate him, no doubt, and Cooke will face numerous countless felony and misdemeanour charges in a non-kangaroo court of law.

As for the Lemieux comment, type his name into Google translate for French and see what you get. No I'm off before I get PUNted out of here.

Mario backed up his ego. Mario is a hall-of-famer; XXX all-star; a top three player all-time and a two-tiem Cup winner. Eugene isn't a hall-of-famer; a no time all-star and a whiner instead of a winner. Hope he rips his ACL this series and ends up in a hospital.

I think he was refering to the "fans" who are talking about trading away all of their players when the Pens are starting the second round of the playoffs.
