You are going to deny that the TEAM played better those games Vokoun started?

The team believes in Fleury. We will not win a Cup without MAF.

The insertion of Kennedy's speed and tenacity was more important than Vokoun in net.

Team didn't play real well in game 6 IMO. Personally I'd go back to Fleury. Vokoun understands his role and seems to embrace it. Benching Fleury might have righted the ship. If our defense plays like it did against the Isles it's not going to matter. Nabokov gift wrapped that series for us. Looks like they are trying new D pairings the one I'm most affraid of is Nisk and Letang. No idea why on gods green earth you would make that pairing. Nisk has been our worst dman in the playoffs and Letang has had brilliant plays but has made a lot of mistakes.

Maybe if Vokoun had kicked a puck off the boards into his own goal, or had let a weak backhand dribbler from the goal line under his arm into the net, or was facing the corner and had a pass from behind the net go off and him and in, you could start Fleury.

I actually thought the team was terrible in Game 6: the only 3 goals Vokoun's let up have been near-impossible stops. Fleury, on the other hand...it's been rough. The team might believe in him, but after his last 10 playoff goals, he might not believe in him.

Team really didn't play better in game 6. It was the same old poop as was the case in game 2,3, and 4. Bottom line, one goalie made the timely saves, while one didn't. The margin of error shrinks with every passing round and the leaky goals get magnified. Pittsburgh wouldn't have won game six if that was Fleury in net. I agree, Fleury will have some impact down the road in this series, BUT you don't start the goalie who put you in bad situations with goals a bantam goalie should have stopped in lieu of the one who did his job and advanced you to the next round. It's ridiculous.

Also, I'll be about 35 minutes East of Pittsburgh from the 20th-24th. Any chance there might be Game either Wed/Thurs?

Also, do they still have that big 60' or whatever size monitor outside? I'd like to be able to watch Games 3/4 on it if so.

Fleury did have 2 pretty weak goals go in granted, but he is not totally to blame for our 2 losses.

Fleury should start game 1, if he doesn't I wouldn't be shocked; but I would be disappointed.

If Marc-Andre Fleury and Carey Price are to be Canada's goalies for the Olympics, then we are in big trouble. Fleury was awful in games 3 and 4, and Price only showed up to two of the four games he played in before spraining his MCL. Hopefully we go with Roberto Luongo, Corey Crawford, and Cam Ward instead.

What's this we stuff? I'm team USA I hope they both play outstanding in the regular season then melt down at the olympics.

I don't care who starts. If the team plays well in front of them they should win.

Personally, I'd stay with the goalie who made the hard stops, not the goalie who made some of the hard stops and let up 3 awful ones. I do agree he'll play a part though, as those bench doors don't open by themselves.

I'd just be worried that if you start MAF in Game 1 and he gets shelled, there's no going back to him (probably ever again). I'd rather keep Vokoun in, and if he gets shelled, your bring in MAF.

Either way, you buyout Fleury in the offseason or trade him, dont want to see 29 in a Pens uni again

Wow that's extreme, a lot of teams would kill for a goalie like MAF.

To choke every chance he gets in the playoffs? I think people are overthinking it, he's above average in the reg season, but if he poops the bed every playoffs, he isn't worth league minimum unless you use him as a backup. I could see his future similar to Marty Biron

Hot goalie?

Vokoun started with a shutout in his first game, but then, so did Fleury. He was the beneficiary of the team playing MARGINALLY better defense in front of him in his second start. He was also fortunate that the Islanders missed some open nets, and almost put the puck in his own net himself had he landed a second sooner on that shot that ended up gliding harmlessly through the goal crease.

Having said that, I'm actually fine with starting either one. But I'm NOT going to pretend that Vokoun is some sort of savior who is far and away a better choice than Fleury.

Whichever goalie is in, the team in front of him better shape up a whole lot defensively, or everyone will be screaming for the college kid to get a start...

Depends on what the Pens have on the farm. I don't think Vokoun's a 65/70 game starter. Do Hartzell or Murray predict to be NHL starters? If so, maybe you go with a Vokoun/Emery-esque combo next year (or try to get a good 25-game backup if you deal MAF) and move Fleury for picks/prospects/wingers. I'm sorry, but I just think MAF is living off of 2 great playoff years and is damaged goods when it comes to the playoffs.

Choke? It would help if the team in front of him didn't completely abandon any sort of defensive structure like they did for the past....three years in a row...

08' Cup Final, 2 wins away from holding the Cup, MAF was instrumental.
09' Won the Cup.
He practically won the WSH series single handedly for us.

He has had some success.

Not lately......I think he is mentally F'd up right now. No confidence, and that is BAD for a goalie.
