Homer does some things really well (scouting, drafting, trades), but the things he does badly (cap-management, contract (re)negotiating, UFA) are seriously debilitating.

I think Homer would probably be a much more patient and methodical GM w/o constant Snider's interference. Probably could say the same for Bobby Clarke.

I don't know if I'd say the same about Clarke, but I do agree a lot of Holmgren's "course change" type moves come from Snider's chair. Stuff like Bryzgalov and the Frick & Frack trades, I think had some input from the Old Man.

Not that he gets marching orders, rather Snider simply saying get this or that done.

I'm a one team kinda girl. Hard to get excited about the play-offs when we aren't in them.

I'd rather see the Leafs and Caps win, but I'm hardly rooting for them. In fact, I'll probably see a Mike Wise column RT'd later today and end up preferring a Rangers victory

according to ann coulter, racism doesn't exist any longer in this country. it must be true.
- hammarby31

Racism is an excuse. Some people make large amount of money making big deals about racial issues. IMO racism is rampant on both sides.

Wow, sounds like one of our ne'er-do-wells took a dump in another thread and now people are out for blood. But why target Bill? He's the reason I come to HB! Insightful, well written and well thought out reviews are hard to come by for Philly. And this one was fairly tame...
Whatever.

I'm still trying to figure out who to cheer for tonight... I might put one of the games on in the background and play video games... That's how enthused I am.

- FlyersGrace

Honestly. I won't know who I'll root for until I sit down. I was glad that T.O. got a home win for no other reason than their fans were elated.

These playoff games for the most part have been amazing. Most games are one goal games. I'm leaving work early so I can toggle between game 7s tonight.

Sure, interpersonal racism might exist on "both sides".

But, institutionalized racism and racial privilege only flows in one direction, I'm afraid.

So I yawned through parts of the Wings / Ducks game last night. They looked dead on their skates. I haven't been following closely but it felt like a listless game last night. I didn't see much fire or desire out there compared to some of the other series.
Maybe just me...

One day, when someone writes a book on what went down during the last couple years of Richards' and Carter's time here, the real story about why they were traded is either going to be really, really good or really terribly boring.

Yah, maybe.... But man c'mon! This is HOCKEY! or SPARTA! or something...
Guess I just like the intense games. I want to see the fire in their eyes. And it just wasn't there for that game. Felt like they were going to stop for tea breaks, or discuss doilie crafting techniques, or have the announcers discuss the hot-boxed locker rooms.

Those shots of the celebrating Toronto fans makes me remember going out and watching the Playoffs during the 2010 run.

Sens all the way, for me.

In the west I'll root for Marleau and Pavelski, Couture and them.

I'm sure that if it was some kind of off-ice thing that happened directly before the trades, it was probably something that was just a culmination of things.

I think saying it is seriously debilitating is overstating it. I think they're are a team that overspends. You can look at some contracts and think that he should have gotten the player for slightly less. A couple hundred grand here, half a mil here, adds up. But the Flyers have the philosophy of targeting what they want, and paying whatever it takes to get it. And they like to sign a younger player in deals where maybe they pay more in the first few years, but if the player continues to grow as a player, they'd save on the back end.
And the bottom line that pretty much every Season, they put a quality team on the ice. And the Cap hasn't stopped them from doing anything they wanted to do.

I know I dont want Toronto winning. Thier fans are obnoxious enough, and that was when they werent making the playoffs. Nor do I want the Rangers to win... I am soo sick of the penguins... and Boston had thier cup. I guess I would prefer Ottawa too. I wouldnt mind San Jose either. Detroit has enough cups to last them a life time. I can never root for Chicago, and it would be painful to watch Carter and Richards lift the cup again. I rooted for them the first time, but twice is just painful.

Is it wrong that I kept expecting them to cut into the Late game with news Maple Leafs Square was afire?

The Funny thing about the carrot.....the bigger the carrot, the bigger the catch......Think of it this way..... when most people sell their homes, real estate brokers charge 6%, 3% for each the selling and buying agents.....if you want you can beat up the agents and get that fee lowered....but at what end, the house might not move as quick b/c of their fees(commissions) were reduced.....If Homer is always fair to UFA/RFA on his contracts.....we should increase the Catch.... Just my 2 cent(pun intended) u get what u pay for!
