The Islanders had a hell of a season. That was a fantastic playoff series. Great hockey with none of the bullpoop.

From what I hear, Miller has an ego and similar attitude as a player that is on a long contract and is no longer with us.

Do you want another one of those?

- gharding14

Ego isn't always a bad thing. DP's problem wasn't necessarily his ego, but rather how his ego was enabled over the years...first goalie picked first overall; landmark, record contract before he had accomplished anything; ability to start whenever he felt like it even when hobbled by injuries, etc. A bit of an ego can be a good thing for a goaltender. Billy Smith didn't have an ego??

I also hope DP doesn't become the next Milbury around here. For years anyone who proposed a trade involving any mid-level prospect was automatically accused of trying to "Milbury" the team. Now we already have our second DP comparison for goalies (Poulin being the first).

Thankfully, there's only one Mike Milbury and only one Rick DiPietro.

Actually, it's more like when the Capitals moved from Landover, MD to downtown DC. This is a very good thing for the franchise.

Are they going to put Brooklyn on the logo?

Not trolling here: it's a very little thing, but it will seem a little weird if they play out of Brooklyn, and don't have it on the map.

I know they issued a statement indicating they won't change the logo, but my bet is they recant and issue a tweaked logo. Think of the added merch sales.

And oh, I almost forgot: good season, Isles.

Ask anyone from WNY, and they will tell you... Wasnt liked in the room (see DP), has an attitude with coaches and media (see DP). Maybe a change in scenery may do him good... And to be honest, you have to wonder about Nabby too... Glad I am not the GM.

A guy who didn't want to play this year, a guy who has put up good numbers when (and only when) he has a stellar defense in front of him, and a good regular season goalie coming off a season-ending surgery. Not the best crop possible.
- jmatchett383

Smith isn't a product of the defence. He's a product of Sean Burke's goaltender coaching, just like Bryzgalov was, but that's a sad story you know too well.

It's a risk to take a goaltender from Phoenix unless you get Burke with him.

Thanks.

Brooklyn is the southwest part of Long Island. It is on the logo. There is a weird local argument regarding Brooklyn and Queens being part of Long Island. Physically they are, but some people don't consider them Long Island because they are part of New York City.

Actually he has ya, Brooklyn may be part of long island, but it is NOT part of the logo... the logo is ONLY of Nassau & Suffolk counties.

Yeah. Apparently DP was very liked in the locker room. I don't remember who said it, but one of the players said he was the funniest person he ever encountered in a locker room in his whole career.

The team's record with and without him begs to differ. Who knows what's really the truth though?

The one on the jersey doesn't have Queens or Brooklyn on it. Never has. That endline on the western part of the jersey is where the Nassau and Queens border is.

The bottom line is the team is better off without him... I just hate the fan created character assassination... its all such cr@p.

I don't pretend to know what went on in the locker room but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some resentment towards him. He got to play by a different set of rule than everyone else. Brendan Witt said as much once DP was sent down.

Eh, I'm not too excited by that list. Smith is the only guy I'd give consideration to out of that group. Backstrom is 35, Thomas likely isn't coming back (we could still toll his contract), Miller is an interesting option via trade though I think I'd rather stay away from him as well. Both Poulin and Nilsson should be nearing their NHL ready phase so I think I'd rather reup Nabby for 1 year and have him split time with either one of them. It's time to find out just what we have with those guys. The 2014 group looks more intruiging with Miller leading the group. If we weren't to go after Smith, I'd probably consider rolling with what we have and then reacting in 2014's UFA if they're deemed a fail. That said, I think our future goaltender is already in the system and likely ready to begin getting some starts very soon.
- keaner17

Very interesting question do the Isles go hard for Bernier or bring Nabby back for a year and let Poulin and Nilsson fight it out for the 1a goalie spot?

I am very proud of this team as we all know I Was one to pretty much dis the team all season. One thing I was right about was DP since they got rid of that clown this has been a way better team.

Couple of things for next year:

1. I like Bailey on the top line with Tavares but he needs another wing, Boyes is not the answer.

2. Frans Nielson I think we should trade and a get a true number 2 center for Okposo and Moulson

3. Do not break up the third line. In fact Cizikas with Grabner and McDonald look awesome.

4. MArtin needs real line mates on the fourth line. I know he has played with Cizikas some of the season but I just think the third line should be those three guys.

5. Streit is as good as gone. Either bring up a kid or sign a veteran defenseman

6. Nabby, the jury is still out. He was one of the main reasons we got to the playoffs. I think you sing him for another year, buy out DP and get a reliable back up for next year just in case.

7. Cappy, well he got us to the playoffs but I am still not convinced he can do that a whole year. Give him one more year to see what he can do
