How about this?

Nino, first round pick and De Haan for Bobby Ryan

We could trade LEe as well! heh

- ISLES1119

Bobby Ryan signed to a decently long extension? Yes. I'd make that trade. I wouldn't throw Lee in the deal too though. I think with guys like Lee and Nelson on the team, a guy like Nino can be moved in a deal for a top-flight winger to skate with JT.

Bernier to be moved in summer

TheFourthPeriod.com

The Los Angeles Kings have received plenty of interest in goalie Jonathan Bernier over the last two seasons, but they've yet to come across a deal they're willing to accept.

Last season, Bernier asked the team to trade him, wanting the opportunity to become a No. 1 goalie on another team.

With Jonathan Quick locked up long-term in Los Angeles, Bernier will only get the chance to prove his starting capabilities with a different club.
The Kings took a few calls for Bernier before last week's trade deadline, and one of them appeared to have caught the attention of GM Dean Lombardi.

According to a source close to the situation, an Eastern Conference club showed significant interest in Bernier, and trade discussions are expected to resume in the off-season. Bernier, 24, is in the final year of his current contract and is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this July.

A deal between the Kings and this Eastern team could be pieced together closer to the NHL Draft scheduled to take place on June 30 in New Jersey.

The Kings were looking for a second-line winger to add to their roster before the deadline, and could obtain one this summer by trading Bernier

As you stated, the lines have become rather blurred. I don't see Martin/Cizikas/McDonald as a third line. I see them as a fourth line. And I see them as being great together. The line designation is immaterial on a team like the Isles, since they should be rolling four lines anyway. I think that you keep that Cizikas line together, keep Bailey/Moulson-Nielsen-KO together and find a top line wing to play with JT and Moulson/Bailey. that leaves an entire line left to make up. I'd personally love to see Grabs/Strome/Nino start out together in camp.

A lot of this depends on who's here next season. I'm willing to bet that Reasoner, Aucoin, and Boyes are gone, with Strome and Nino and Lee/Nelson being promoted. guys like Nielsen, Bailey or one of the prospects may be packaged for a top line winger or top pair d-man.

did you take a break in the middle of your response? I put an extra paragraph in as an edit 10 minutes after posting the original line which isn't in your quotation. I agree that I would rather we sign a top line winger to play alongside JT, but I also don't expect that to really happen. Given who we have on the roster, I think Strome, who will spend the offseason working with JT and Moulson, could be Taares' first choice.

On top of that a lot of players reaize JT's advance and would love to be winger for him. Trust me better players do want to come to NY now or within 2 years.

We are giving up to many goals, so a decent defense man is a must, no matter if he is home grown or via FA we do need one that clears the crease.

Cant wait till next season.. lets go Isles..

Really?

Always ready to drop the mits, always full steam, chips in the odd goal. We may have that now with Casey or Matt, but we didnt for a long time. A heart and soul player.. and we have been saddled with a few heartless players over the last few seasons...

He'll be at camp, we will find out then. I think he has the skills, I just don't think he's ready to jump right into the 1st line of an NHL team.

That sounds like the Asham of 5 years ago. He was pretty much invisible this whole season. I know he scored the other night but he is not the same player. Like you said with Martin and Cizikas where would he play?

Asham is a solid, hard working, long time veteran fourth line player....I think I'd rather have Martin in his role, though, because Martin isn't...well, let's just say Asham is not called "a$$head" for no reason. He takes some of THE worst penalties this side of Chris Simon. Offensively, he is what he is- Happy f***ing Gilmore. He shoots the puck 800 miles an hour, and once every three weeks, it actually goes at the net (and usually in).

He reminds me of Kvasha, in that every once in a while, he scores a goal where you're like holy sh*t, really?....then he disappears for a month. The difference, of course, is that first of all, he also brings something else to the table, other than flashes of greatness, and months of stupidity- he actually gives a sh*t, and he can beat someone up when necessary. Second of all, he's a fourth line player, and everyone knows he's a fourth line player. A certain former GM isn't trying to tell me the sun shines out Asham's a$$, because he made a sh*t trade and is trying to preserve his job.

BTW- just an off topic observation..speaking of taking the worst penalties this side of Chris Simon....Luke Schenn is starting to emerge as another one of those...as a defenseman, that's a disaster. He's also the typical 6'3" driving test cone that the Flyers are famous for. I'm now glad we did NOT draft him. That's why if I'm trading for and/or spending money on ANYONE, it's a big time defenseman, because you never know how they're going to turn out until they're done turning out.

Can't see Anaheim doing that, even with Lee "thrown in". This is why I'd rather use one of Strome/Niederreiter as trade bait in part of a package for a big time defenseman, and keep the other one, developing that player to be Tavares' wing. Forwards like Ryan always seem to warrant a king's ransom in a trade. That's fine if you're barren in that department, but to me, that's the one spot where we don't have that issue.

This team, AS IS, was 8th in the league offensively this season. Offense isn't the problem- the weakness of our first line stems SOLELY from the fact that Boyes is USELESS (annnnnnnd...cue the Brad Boyes fan club in 3....2...1... ). I fully expect Niederreiter, unless he's moved, to replace Boyes in the lineup AND have the resulting reworked lineup, however that shakes out, be an immediate upgrade to what we already had this year, which was pretty d*mned good.

The bottom line is that if we're putting together a package of prospects/draft picks, it should either be for a big time defenseman, or Bernier. Other than that, I'll keep what I have, and see how my hand plays out.
