Part of me is wondering if the Islanders were the best team in the east. The Penguins were elated at the end of that game. That team brought the whole 9 yards with them.

Hopefully it wakes everyone up. I refuse to get my hopes up until we put together 3 or 4 convincing performances in a row though. I don't feel the magic....yet.

Maybe if we fire bylsma mid playoff push we will get there all he says is the team is sloppy with the puck and they need to stop committing turnovers yet every game turnovers galore - Genev21
How often was Bylsma sloppy with the puck? How many turnovers did he have?
Bylsma isn't perfect, but Scotty Bowman would look bad with his players making the mistakes the Pens have done.
And you can't bench guys like Malkin or Letang in the playoffs. That is not an option.

One thing that I didn't see last night were the conspiracy clowns talking about the League rigging games for the Pens. Funny how those people disappear so often.

I didn't see any of the...the refs are going to give them the game clowns either. The Pens had 1 PP, and for the series....you take away the gooning in game 5 and the Islanders had more PP chances than the Pens. Yeah, the league has rigged it for the Pens.

Besides, it seemed like Malkin found ways to motivate himself just fine. Maybe he didn't have the best series (going on hearsay, I didn't watch closely), but he made himself a factor when he needed to last night.

Congrats on the series, ladies. - BulliesPhan87
If he played like that, I mean the blocked shot and setting up the tying goal last night the previous series, this ends in four, not six.

This lovely morning, I was trying to come up with a nice message to the trollish asshats like Jimmc, the Rat, Dman, and that yutz from Buffalo who were just dying to dance on the Pens grave had they somehow lost this series. Time like this, I don't think I can sum it up better than Colonel Frank Slade did in Scent of a Woman:
I used to love Crosby when he first came into the league but now that we are entering our 4th playoff series vs them I grew to hate (but respect) him. I hope we win and think it will be a fun series.
A game 7 tonight would have been great but it just wasn't in the cards this year. Looking forward to watching the series with the Sens. Good luck - Vukota
It wouldn't have been great for those who have seen too many game seven losses to a worse team.

I don't think this way. We are the best team and the one to be beaten in the East. When we beat the Islanders at home, it was in a very nice fashion: 5-0 and 4-0.
You could make a case of the Islanders being the most excited/spirited/hard working team in the East (for entering the playoffs after so long). They were fast, motivated and skilled. Period.
The Ottawa series will be a good one but we still are the better team and need to step up. They won't have the same speed as the Islanders and that's good...but they are very disciplined in all areas of the ice and better defensively. I predict a 4-1/4-2 series to the Pens.

All I can say is Dan better be working on an answer for the 1-3-1 or 1-2-2....whatever you want to call it. It's a defensive, neutral zone trapping system that gives the Pens fits. Turns them into sloppy, turnover prone players. It was Ottawa towards the end of the season last year that provided the blue print for shredding Disco's system.

What they need to do is be patient with the puck. Don't always go for the long stretch pass, but rather quick neutral zone passing. They need to have one guy streaking in just as someone else dumps the puck in. They NEED to be strong on the forecheck otherwise they lose this series

Hahaha thanks man. You're right. He did motivate himself. He had mistakes but he also had the most assists in the series. There were a few notable bad plays but during crunch time last night he was one of the best players along with Kennedy and Cooke. Glad to see him rise to the occasion. He just needs to take that on as early as possible.
I know it's a tough decision but I would start Vokoun in the next series. He has earned it, IMO. If not for him we would have been in big trouble. he saved our bacon, big time. If he falters then MAF but not until then.

Vokoun gets the keys until further notice. That's how these things should go.

Almost like those saying things about it are being made to disappear.
