Schneider is worth two prospects. - LeftCoaster
Yeah but the value of Nelson to the Isles is gonna be super high. Most def twice what Nino is. I do believe Schneider is worth two prospects. But not those two paired up from the Isles. |

Waivers.
Cost the 'nucks nothing, and one GM will be stupid enough to bite. - Atomic Wedgie
No gm is gona bite on Lou,if lous contract is a no trade clause he can be waived but if no gm wants him and he goes to the minors his salary will stilll be a major cap hit mind you it will take a little off. This is under the assumption its a no trade clause,if it is a no movement clause this whole idea is out the window as we all know a no movement clause means he cant be sent down..I predict he will be a buy out this summer and then itll be bye bye gillis |

Islanders need goaltending, it's well documented. Cory is a young American from the North East that's just hitting his prime. The Islanders are also deep at centre, which Nelson plays...Tavares, Bailey, Nielsen, Strome, Cizikas. |

Bailey barley plays C and is more a winger. Strome is likely to come in and play RW and be Tavares and Moulsons set up guy. What PA was before he jumped ship. Nelson could be theyre #2 center. Nielson is a 3rd C. Im just saying that I bet theyd be more willing to ride Nabokov some more than to give up those two prospects together. And again. I also believe Schneider is worth a good return. I just dont see the Isles moving those two guys. I could see Nino yes. But not Nelson. |

Adding Hansen will add depth, we could do that. |

This cap issue is a one year problem . The following year the Sedins become UFAs and will get nowhere near 6.1 . They will be looking at 4.8 or something. Gillis would be crazy to sign them higher than that. They also said they would do one year at a time.
So like Gillis said at the meeting he would use players like Gaunce Lain Schroeder and others to get bigger stronger faster. Say goodbye to the days of Raymond Manny and Lappierre (maybe)
This means 15 players for a total cap space of 62.9 million.
With the cap space at $64.3 million, this leaves the Canucks with $1.4 million to sign 8 players to fill out the roster.
Export Lu that is 5.3 off the books and can bring in let say Nino for the sake of humouring me.
Nino 2.5
Gaunce 1.056
Lain 1.055
Archibald 900k
That is now 18 players at the same 62.9 or around that
Edler out Simmonds in savings of 1 mil still 18 players
Ballard Booth waivers buy out or traded for 7 th rounder 8.4 mil bringing us to close to 10 mil space with 16 players for Free agency and resigning . I imagine Weise and Alberts will be resigned for around the same money and Tanev will be at 2.5 (3 players 4.5 )
That leaves 3 players left for 5.5 mil .doable Bring in Schroeder at 1mil and Lack at 1 mil
Our lineup will be big young and make a lot of mistakes (but gain experience) and lets fac it we have not had scoring or playoff success in what seems like a millenium
Burrows Kesler Simmonds
Sedin Sedin Kassian
Nino Schroeder Hansen
Archibald Gaunce /Lain Weise
Hamhuis Bieksa
Garrison Tanev

Twins are still gonna get paid. If 4.8 is what you see them as. Your best players and top performing players. Theyre gonna be gone to FA. They most def still get 5.5 to theyre 6.1 they already make. |

I'd rather trade them Schneider and get back Nino & Brock Nelson!! Nelson is suiting up for the Islanders today.

Anyone remember back to '08 when Nonis was the Canucks GM and he was close to adding Brad Richards?
I believe the rumoured deal was Schneider, Bourdon, Edler, and a 1st rd pick, but the lightning decided they liked Mike Smith better than Schneider and took Mike Smith, Halpern, J. Jokinen and a 4th rd pick instead.
He also tried to move Schneider for Brule straight up at some point during '08.

The twins will choose to remain in Vancouver over a million dollars, this is their one and only team and their home. They sign for 5 million each, one year deals. |

I was more of trying to show if you get creative it is fixable. As you said last week we have a lot of 3 rd liners dressed as 2 nd liners. I would rather see the new kids come in and make mistakes like a 1 Mil Schroeder rather than a 5 mil Derek Roy. I rather to watch a young kid like Nino at 2.5 than Mason Raymond and his disappearing act. Even Higgins I want to see replaced.
The names can be changed but the concept of younger bigger faster .
If we fail miserably our kids get experience and we get a high draft pick |

Agreed . I put it to 4.8 because they seem like the type to take the best interest of the club first. |

Isnt Jensen compared to Rick Nash? Lou alone would prolly get you Nino anyhow. - poisondhearts37
God I hope not. I don't want another bust on my team. |

reentry waiver maybe. Noboddy is taking the full magnitude of that contract without giving a problem back. The Canucks should trade Schneider. I've been saying this all along. The Luongo contract is a marriage contract and divorce is always expensive. |

To be honest, I always thought Nash just needed a change of scenery to be the superstar that he is. Nope, he still sucks. Might be the most overated/hyped player of all time. |

He was on pace to score 40 goals again. and played at a PPG level. You would love to get that from Jensen. |

It's funny - about 1 1/2 years ago I was posting on this site that the Canucks were in cap hell and was blasted for saying such.
Cap hell is no fun.. trust me. |
