Last night Gardiner was good

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle 1h
Possession-wise, Franson and Gardiner were the class of the Leafs last night http://bit.ly/YHSgFt Encouraging for next year's blueline.

Rielly will be pretty good when he is 22 also

I couldn't care less about your stupid sarcasm.

And you should care, listen to me and you will have the proper insight to all prospects.

- LeafMan

I'm sorry, man.

I had no right to go off on you like that.

I have let the OT loss last night get the better of me.

It's just so hard...

save for the fact his defense is questionable

are you ron wilson?

- Dozzer

He actually played pretty good defensively id say, why? Because the kid has speed and catch up, he finally woke up and used his speed to his advantage, the guy skates with the puck so smoothly like no one will touch him and does it perfectly

No thanks, there's no need to rush him. At all. One of the advantages of having a team that makes the playoffs is that you can afford to develop your layers and not rush them into situations they are not ready for. I personally would hope Rielly spends a year in the AHL before even being considered for the big team.

desperate times come for desperate measures and playing 1-2 games doesn't stall his development

How are they suppose to when we cant win a faceoff to start that off and chara just dumps the puck wasting majority of our powerplay
- Mapleleafs_91

Carlyle has sent out instructions to lose as many face-offs as possible. The easiest way to cut down on turn-overs is to not have the puck in the first place.

I was terrified every time he touched the puck. That's not saying that he messed up every time - just that the dude is a riverboat gambler.

Scary/funny thing is, I suspect they'll give him even more slack in game five. No point in playing conservative now - let's just roll the dice.

5-1 Bruins.

He works because he does something all Leafs should be doing, moving their feet. the only fear with Gardiner isn't a turnover, its him blowing a tire. He remains engaged in the play no matter what, and that was why he looked good last night. I wish more players remained engaged in the play, rather than going through the motions.

And if you ask me, that is what Kadri is doing wrong in this series, and what he was doing right when he was hot on the scoresheet. As soon as he loses the puck, he's not engaged in the play. Not all the time (he's been throwing some solid checks), but in the reg season when he was hot, even when he was beaten, he stayed on the puck and his man, which lead to takeaways. And in turn odd man rushes.

At is a key word. Don't have to hit the net. Hit the net, miss the net, score a goal it's all the same

I kinda felt that way last night about dion everytime the puck came to the point. He bobbled it, shot it off someone's shin pads, made a bad pass.

I'm not a big Dion hater, but he's been scaring the poop out of me lately. Wonder if he's nursing some kind of injury. Seems very hesitant with the puck

Not really, Gardiner contains the puck pretty good and carries it really well, probably our best puck moving defender. This series is making him a better player big time, and against a team like boston, looks really good, scary good that he can carry the puck with him that well against boston and dance around boston like its no big deal

Gardiner folks, GOD, arguably our best defender this series along with franson, every other defender can go F themselves, EDIT: Gunner can be added to having good games too thats about it
- Mapleleafs_91

What?
Franson has been our best dman....Gardiner needs to work on his D in order to become "our best Defender".

I said it so many times, when a dman rushes the puck it is the responsibility of the same side forward or centre to back him up, hockey 101.
