no.. you read in here that he has potential. for a young kid, which he does.

everyone always puts the disclaimer about his potential defensive zone gafs

but we as fans are willing to be patient with him as he works those out.

he isn't great. but not too many guys are without having played more than a seasons worth of games at this level.

just pick a new team man

Just watching the Canada-Sweden game, and one thing really strikes me: neither of these teams really cares about the outcome of this game.

No hitting. No aggressive play. No digging at the goalie.

Don't get me wrong, I think that's the proper way to go. It's a vacation. I don't care about it, so why should they?

But it's a bit of a contrast from last night's action.

For the record, I compared him to a young Al Iafrate.

Pairing For Vs. TOI Diff
3 36 4 6 14.2 -2
23 51 2 3 12.7 -1
4 45 3 2 9.5 1
4 51 4 0 6.4 4
36 51 2 0 1.8 2
4 23 1 0 1.4 1
3 51 1 1 0.9 0
3 45 0 1 0.5 -1

The first two numbers are the player pairings....the For Column is scoring chances for, VS is the opposing teams chances. The last column is the differential with the minus indicating the opposition had more chances against. The numbers show Franson was a beast last night, Franson, meanwhile, in all his juggling around, drew the Boston first line primarily. He and Fraser did a fine job in the early going restricting scoring chances against and the Leafs' net, but with Gardiner later, they started turning that Bruins attack around in the neutral zone and making consistent outlet passes leading to shots for the Leafs. I don't think it's a coincidence the Leafs worked the shot clock when Fraser left the ice. Franson was 8-2 on the night, Gardiner was second best at 8-3. Phaneuf and O'byrne were our worse in these categories.

Noone has said he was great, we've said he played great last night. I've personally said I thought trading him for Clarkson as you suggested would be a bad move. I've never said we shouldn't trade him for the right return....at the same time, in a series where you insisted in the past he would suck, that the Bruins would eat him alive (come playoff time), he's been one of our better d-men.

so what you're saying is gardiner sucks?

wait.. .wrong guy

obviously HH knows more about hockey than Randy Carlyle, who is a defensive minded guy and allowed the terribly terrible Gardiner to play 27 minutes in the most important game in the last 10 years for the Leafs

Funny video clip they just aired on TSN:

Close up of a female Sweden fan - a 10 out of 10. Then Canada scores, so a female Canadian fan stands up, blocking our view of the Sweden fan. Sadly, the Canadian is a 6 out of 10.

So if I'm doing the math correctly, Canada is winning 3 - 0, but their female fan is winning 10-6, so we are still losing 10-9.

It has been bad for both sides and you can bring up the dive by Lupul but be fair about Chara's head snap back when Orr clearly did not hit him in the head with an elbow. A lot of missed and cheap calls on both teams.

But it is on par with what we have seen all season.

Damn refs

HAHA but I am not on here complaining on the officiating LOL, and there haven't been much diving in this series at all. I just threw the Lupul one in cause it was pretty horrendous and it was fresh in the mind when I seen someone complaining about the refs
