He'll most likely end up on waivers, what a mess GM MG has created with this one. At the time (different CBA) is was a good deal, there are a few of them out there.
Most things Mike Gillis has done lately have been a complete failure IMO, three years ago he added depth but now we just have a big mess on our hands. What if Aquilini says no we're not buying out anyone, you made the mess you clean it up? - LeftCoaster
Oh man, if Aquilini says that not sure what the Nucks would do. With a Compliance buyout of Booth and Ballard the Nucks would have $9.2M in cap space, this is still with Luongo on the roster and 9 or 10 players to add.
I would fire MG before AV, let the new GM fire AV and bring in his own guy. |

Only GM in Vancouver that everyone can live with on a rebuild would be "Mr. Linden". If the owners of the Canucks want to right this ship once and for all, they should make it happen.
Linden - in
Gillis - out
Gillman - stays
AV- out
Ruff - in
Make Kesler the new captain and everyone else for future prospects.
We are in no way shape or form to compete with the Oilers or Blackhawks year after next anyways. |

Is Linden doing anything these days?
Other than selling contact lenses, of course.

I'm pretty sure conversations between Gillis and Aquilini have already happened after the new CBA was in place. Aquilini wants a profitable team but at the same rate, their profitability overall (ticket sales, merch etc.) would certainly take a hit if they didn't make the playoffs next year while Booth and Ballard are still on the payroll. Don't be mad cuz you aired the mysterious family xxx ad issue to the hockeybuzz world. That is actually one of the best things I have seen on this site for a long time.....and just think your wife will never know that you got help to solve that skeleton in the closet! It is a win win. Unless she reads hockeybuzz....

Why keep Gillman? I don't know why people cut him slack.
I would love Linden, but he isn't tested. We should bring in a long serving GM to play out the core for 2 more seasons, make a few savy moves and then swing reasonable trades to retool. If our GM is new no one will take him seriously. Gillis is getting laughed at by the league for the Luongo debacle. he will last another year or 2 but will seriously have to create magic to survive, or have a prospect like Jensen score 30 goals, and Edler win the norris

Way to be typical.
Is the right winger supposed to be that low? Is he supposed to teleport to Stepan to tie up his stick? Where is the other defender? Oh, doesn't matter, it was obviously Ovi's fault. Not Backstrom's, the guy who was supposed to be covering Stepan. Lets just use this as fodder for Ovi playing horrible defense even though, as far as I know, they haven't invented teleportation yet.
- Blackstrom2
Really? Teleportation? He was coasting. He wasn't even moving. There was a play going on, and he was coasting. Doing absolutely nothing. I don't get how you defend that.

Not even sure why the Canucks feel the need to do this sort of a presser anyways. It's a total charade that offers nothing substantial for fans to chew on.
The wheels just touched down from San Jose yesterday so there won't be any personnel decisions announced or even evaluated yet.
If anything, it'll just frustrate fans even more.
They should just go into radio silence until the playoffs are over. |

I could be wrong, as we’ve seen some coaches make some MASSIVE differences in the league recently. Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto to name a few. But I think the issues with the team go further than the coach, and with a tightening cap, it’s going to pretty difficult to fill out another line or two with top players. |

Has his own chain of fitness gyms as well.
Btw, doesn't sound like an AV during will be announced today, apparently today will just be a media, locker clean out day and then decisions will be made by ownership/management in the coming days. |

Interesting read by your own Jason Botchford.
http://www.theprovince.co...hining/8357415/story.html - paulr
Interesting stat line here.... I know it goes against what this story is saying but wow.... it just proves that we got jobbed.
This is how the other series breakdown as far as power play opportunities: Chicago 11, Minn 15...........MON 12, OTT 12...........NYI 15, Pitt 13...........STL 14, LA 10.........ANA 15, DET 14. And in three games so far.........NYR 12, WAS 10...........TOR 11, BOS 9. |
