No, I'm just being a smart ass.
But when I was younger we did some desperate things to solve some missing piece of the puzzle. The bbq above is one of them. Another was using sea water as mix. That was a bad idea.

- bloatedmosquito

Been there, Tequila and sea water, but being 16 comes with it's own stupidity.

That recipe sounds like a gooder. Did you do it in the smoker?

I tried once on a cookie sheet in the oven. Didn't turn out great, as it didn't dry out as much as you'd like for jerky, but it tasted ok.

15 hrs in the smoker, but only one load of smoke (apple chips) I'm planning on doing it again, going to substitute the berries for pineapple juice. I love experimenting.

That must've been awful

Desperate times...

We used to fall back on a giant decades-old tub of orange gatorade powder when we ran out of mix—probably still some left in the bottom. Straight into the Wisers.

- Fosco

It was awful. So (frank)ing awful. We were on a boat with no mix and a lot of booze. Drinking rum and CC straight took it's toll. I think we did it just to see who would back out last.

your gatorade and wisers must have been so (frank)ing sweet and gritty. That must have been different. What did it look like coming back up?

Tequila! At least mine was somewhat reasonable.

Unfortunately, I can't use age as an excuse. Just plain old stupidity.

Sounds like me. Except I'm 6'1" and vary between 150-160, at 29.

Only time I've been able to get over 160 was when I was going to the gym regularly and training for soccer. Ain't nobody got time for that anymore...

- Fosco

6'3" 215 lbs, mostly muscle, although because of my knees and age (36) I'm going a little potbellied.

It was pretty bad, but by that point we didn't care too much. Still has to be a lot better than sea water...

Never found out what it looked like on the way back—I have an iron gut.

Can't even remember the last time I got sick from drinking.

Used to play a game called super sh!tty shots growing up where you try to make up the worst mix of alcohol plus whatever else gross you could find in the fridge/cupboard, and draw everyone's name out of a hat until the last two.

I was always really good at that game

Too bad about the knees. You sound like you have the build for a power forward. You and DCT as wingers on the same line would be a force.

I'll likely be in the same boat when I'm your age with the knees. Already had a few minor issues, and have to ice them on a regular basis.

I'm a former Rugby/Hockey player hyper extended my knee during rugby practice lol. I still snowboard from time to time but when I do I pay for it. Still in good shape probably better than when I was younger but now I have to stay in shape cause if I let myself go its so hard to get back.

I was a defenceman back when I still could play hockey, never made it to major junior although I got close in Junior B. It's because I got my right leg and knee destroyed in a meaningless preseason game blocking a shot and having the forward knock me into our goalie and had both of them land on my leg while it was partially hyperextended. Now after multiple surgeries, there's nothing more they can do for it, I've got arthuritis so bad that I need a brace and cortizone shots every month just to be able to walk.

It sucked, I probably could have maybe done a Garrison or Burrows and become an undrafted or overage draft choice had I not gotten injured. By the time I recovered and rehabbed, what little speed I had was gone and I was far too slow to play anything other than maybe as a 7th or 8th d-man on an ECHL team. It was at that point that I said, ok, time to move on to other things.

Would that even fit under the cap? I bet Horton gets around 5.25, maybe 5.5. No thanks to Alberts as a regular or Ruff as HC, but that forward group is solid with the right line combos and system.

I don't disagree.

But at that point we weren't really taking the time to enjoy it.

We enjoyed the first few bottles of the weekend, though.

No to Ruff.
No to Horton (will cost too much $$).
No to rushing Gaunce into the league and killing his offensive development.
No to Schroeder on the wing and on the 4th line (such a waste).
No to Jensen on the 4th line (better to keep him in the AHL, if that's the case).

Don't mind the D, but I'd rather Bieksa with Hammer, and Garrison back on his natural side with Tanev.

Also, would rather give a shot to one of the youngsters like Andersson or Tommernes instead of Alberts. Or a free agent.

EDIT: and where would Kassian fit? He's got a skill-set/nature much better suited for the 4th line than either Schroeder or Jensen, so I don't know why either of them would be there over Kassian.

Exactly what I was thinking

I wonder if Toronto would do Frattin straight up for Luongo. Trade Edler for Coutourier/B Schenn and Bourdon
