5% body fat at that weight for your height is pretty stud-like.

We've been given more than a few hints as to what he's like behind the scenes... From his own mouth.

"I don't talk to the players during the game, they're big boys." - AV

" I don't talk to the players before the game, they know what to do." - AV

"I didn't know what I was supposed to do out there." - SOB, Keith Ballard, David Booth, Zack Kassian
(different variations of the same message to reporters when they're asked about struggles)

Yes, yes I can. We should have a hockeybuzz pick-up game @ 8rinks or something.

I got a bit of a belly on me now, but the rest is skinny. Not a good look for me.

I have to get back into soccer again. Only play once or twice a year when my Comox Valley team comes down for the labour day tournament—which we always win

Got a tourney on Salt Spring for May long weekend. Gonna be rough, since I haven't even kicked a ball since the last labour day tournament.

I was the same like two years ago after I quit soccer and hockey, my body fat was pretty high for my age and I had little muscle either.

Now I think I got too carried away with my diet and cardio and I'm pretty damn skinny even though I've been working out and eating a poop load of protein for about 2-3 months now so hopefully I can put on like 5 healthy/useful pounds and I'll finally be satisfied. I was playing football a few weeks ago with some of my buddies and I got tossed around like a rag doll. But on the bright side, I probably burned them for like 5 TD's since none of them could catch me once I took off either.

Soccer is pretty damn good for fitness, it's probably why I was so out of shape once I quit. I played defence since I couldn't dribble or shoot at all.

Sure, as long as you're on my team or it's non-contact.

That's the name I game my old RX-7, may she RIP (until I get the new motor in her).

Yeah, I'm usually the same with the BBQ, but we can't figure out what's wrong—checked/cleared the propane regulator, cleaned out the outlets, got a new propane tank, but the entire grill still won't light, and only sputters a bit before dying.

Thing's less than two years old, and used to work like a hot damn...

You're pork chops sound similar to my step dad's method. Man that guy can cook—always put on a couple pounds after staying with them.

Step dad considers it an insult if you turn down food, even if you've just eaten

- Fosco

Its your new tank. I had the same problem they didn't purge it properly. Take it to where you bought it and get it re-purged.

It can be. When I played on a serious team I was in the top shape of my life.

My spring league team (the fun one) spent more time drinking beer after practice than we did practicing. Plus, I was keeper, so just sat back and ran my mouth more than anything

Never played much football outside of school, but I was similar to you—they couldn't catch me often, but when they did, I was at their mercy...

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. But it was doing the same thing with the old tank.

I would too.

I eat quite a bit, but am still a bean pole. Without red meat, I'd probably waste away.

(frank)ing BBQ is broken right now, and the last month or so has been awesome weather for BBQing

Wondering if I should bite the bullet and buy a new one...

If your HB name should reflect the type of person you are then I'm in trouble.

Interesting idea. As a Canuck fan, I'm very experienced at making fires.

Unfortunately, we're in an apartment at the moment, and that might look a little strange out on the fire escape...

Let me guess, you thought up that idea stoned and with a killer craving for BBQ

No, I'm just being a smart ass.
But when I was younger we did some desperate things to solve some missing piece of the puzzle. The bbq above is one of them. Another was using sea water as mix. That was a bad idea.

I was about 6 or 7 beer deep after 4 holes and feeling pretty good about my game which at that point I think I was winning. I was harassing the other guys that I do mens night with and saying they were about to feel the Thunder LOL. At which point I took the out the biggest pelt ever and it went to the ladies tee. They all laughed and said nice chunk there thunder and proceeded to call me thunderchunk for a few mens night

That's how I was raised, but as soon as I was old enough to choose for myself, I started eating meat.

Wish I had enough room for a smoker

Used to work for an oyster farm up island, and I can still get some of the best oysters in the world for free. Also have lots of buddies who catch more salmon than they can eat, so I could definitely put a smoker to good use.

I've actually been on a jerky binge of late. Damn that poop is good, but expensive.

Wondering if I should start making my own to cut down costs...?

- Fosco

I made jerky for the first time just before the playoffs started. Got an eye round from Costco, cut it up, marinated in soy sauce, pepper, hot sauce, and 4 cups of blueberries. It came out purple. It was all gone last week, shouldn't of allowed my friends a taste, bastards.

That must've been awful

Desperate times...

We used to fall back on a giant decades-old tub of orange gatorade powder when we ran out of mix—probably still some left in the bottom. Straight into the Wisers.

That recipe sounds like a gooder. Did you do it in the smoker?

I tried once on a cookie sheet in the oven. Didn't turn out great, as it didn't dry out as much as you'd like for jerky, but it tasted ok.

nice. I hate the game with a passion. Played a lot at one time but no more. The only sport in the world you get worse at the more you play. I'm getting pizzed off just talking about it.

Mine is an old on-line poker name. People said that my game matched my name nicely.
