(frank) I wish Booth was as good at hockey as he is with his vocabulary.

Sorry, don't know how to embed the video.

That's how I was raised, but as soon as I was old enough to choose for myself, I started eating meat.

Wish I had enough room for a smoker

Used to work for an oyster farm up island, and I can still get some of the best oysters in the world for free. Also have lots of buddies who catch more salmon than they can eat, so I could definitely put a smoker to good use.

I've actually been on a jerky binge of late. Damn that poop is good, but expensive.

Wondering if I should start making my own to cut down costs...?

Man I would probably die within the week if I didn't eat red meat daily.

So as most of you know Gary Roberts is player development consultant for Dallas as well he also has the GR development center for training pro athletes. I don't think he needs the money nor would he have the time with all his other activities to be a coach. But I would REALLY like to interview this guy and see what it would take to get him on board in some shape or form. The reason being is this guy knows how to develop young players as well as veterans. He could very well be the guy to that can take this team to the next level. If I am MG I would already be talking to this guy like fa@king now. Him and a guy like Eakins together KAPOOYA. I know most coaches want to bring on there own staff but MG can think outside the box bring in guys suited for specific roles and make them work together. Throw a Stevens or Igor whoever. Gillis is the boss players don't get to decide who they work with why should coaches.

That being said if Gillis loses his job(which I doubt). I don't know who GM should be. I will have to think about that one for a bit.

The first practice as coach just to fa@k with them BAG SKATe LOL.

You propose some interesting options. I especially like the Roberts idea, since I think development has been an issue in MG's tenure, despite it being an area he initially made some attempts to improve.

That being said, Roberts publicly bashed MG after the Hodgson fiasco, so I don't think that relationship is very good.

I would too.

I eat quite a bit, but am still a bean pole. Without red meat, I'd probably waste away.

(frank)ing BBQ is broken right now, and the last month or so has been awesome weather for BBQing

Wondering if I should bite the bullet and buy a new one...

Clearly fabricated......how can MG have a top choice when he hasn't even dealth with AV and may not at all......

We all know that MG takes his time to do anything so I wouldn't put much stock in that rumor du jour....

- chompsey

It could be, but I'm guessing the holdup is that MG first needs the green light from ownership. I mean, I think he probably has a good idea of whether or not he's gonna fire AV by now and who are some guys he'd like to interview for the new job.

I'm weary of bringing in someone who hasn't at least been a head coach in the AHL/Junior or been an assistant in the NHL, also great trainers and players aren't guaranteed to make good coaches with strategy, developing a system, managing a large group of professional players with different personalities, making adjustments , dealing with the media, etc.

Sometimes to get better one has to swallow their pride. If MG did I'm sure Gary would be all ears. Sometimes the best relationships are started that way and a mutual respect is forged. Each party knows where they stand and no punches are pulled. Good business.

We don't have any idea which way he is leaning, and I can assure you that no matter if he did want to fire AV that he wouldn't have any coach already employed by another team on his list - thats called tampering and even the slightest leak would result in his hands being slapped.

Thusly, there are no "sources".........

Having said that, I am with the lot of you, Tortorella would be a nice wakeup call for this sinking ship....

Man I'm skinny as hell too. Get a physical done every couple yrs, I'm just over 5% body fat. I'm on the BBQ(or mine has a name, its Lucille) 3 or 4 times a week. Steak, Pork Chops(although I like them better in the oven with mushroom soup) burgers, ribs, sausage, roast,
When I 1st bought my house and was single I had pretty much an entire cow cut into steak. All roasts, neck the whole lot cut into steaks. BbQ steak everyday and sometimes twice. Ah the memories

Hate that list. Why does everyone (in general - not saying you) limit their search to guys who have been fired from other jobs for being sh!tty, rather than put in the work to find the next big thing...
- DrChristianTroy

Because a good hockey coach is a good hockey coach. All some of them need is a different team to work with. See recently; Hitchcock, Boudreau, Carlyle, DeBeor, etc...

Of course we don't, but my point was that he's probably already strongly leaning towards either firing or retaining AV, a meeting between the two after the season isn't going to suddenly make a huge difference. The rumour also says that Torts would be his early favourite for the job...if he becomes available, obviously he has not worked anything out with a head coach currently under contract and he's not banking on hiring someone for sure before going through an interview process with multiple candidates.

Meh, IMO a "good hockey coach" is defined by having the ability to lead, strategize, and adjust no matter what team/roster you're given.

That's hard to measure. So a good hockey coach has a winning team his entire career? So that leaves like 3 or 4 coaches.

I'm just saying, all 4 of those coaches were canned and then turned the team around that they were hired by.

I wonder if Gillis will reveal his plan to AV before he presents it to ownership?

I mean, do you think he talked to AV on the phone last night and said he's endorsing he stays as coach? Or does he keep his plan secret?

Or does he reveal his plan after the coaching decision is decided? Then he can say....ooooh, so sorry Alain, I tried. I really did.
