The steal of last yrs draft. Kid is gonna be a star - Bieksa#3
Winnipeg seems to have some pretty good scouting, some nice picks later in last year's draft as well. |

Unless the can move Enstrom or Buff(to Philly) I can't see them wanting Edler. They seem solid on D but need help everywhere up front |

I agree, but I think Burmistrov could be had if Noel isn't fired and if he is available then I really hope Gillis makes a strong offer. |

This question was asked by someone at HF:
Is it unethical for Gillis to trade Edler before his NTC kicks in? Would future Canucks signees be apprehensive to take home town discounts because of a potential move like this?
Thoughts? |

Lets say they do DCTs offer. Then move Buff to Philly (along with another small piece) forCoutourier and Read
They would be looking good |

1. Not unethical. The start date for the clause was delayed & agreed to by both parties.
2. Nobody worries about sh!t like this when they're signing on the dotted line for a payday. They're looking on the brightside of the opportunity... Not assuming they might get traded prior to a clause kicking in or forced into retirement because of cap mismanagement. |

Also, I hope certain people (can't remember who - I've argued with many) paid attention to what Gillis said regarding NTC's in the press conference. If a player is unhappy with his role/situation, he will waive it. If the team is unhappy with a player, he will waive it because why would he choose to stay and endure that? They're not the transaction cockblock that people assume they are... People with NTC's can and will be traded. |

Agreed. The only issue is limits (sometimes greatly) options where Player X can be traded. A good GM can make it happen though |

Not Canuck related, but something I've heard through some decent sources. Heard Yakupov and a high pick to Buffalo for Myers and R Miller. Could work both ways. Millet gets out of town and fresh start, EDM gets their bona fire #1. BUF gets a young, stud forward they can reunite with Grigorenko. Heard Myers wants a fresh start, but if I'm Regier I don't trade Myers. Not now |

MG has built a culture that players want to play in AV has contradicted that by his style. I think a lot of players truly want to play here but change has to happen and it will. It has to. |

I don't buy that a lot of players want to play here anymore after the first round exits. FA's usually chase money and a few of them(usually the old guys) go to places to win the cup, I'm not to sure that the Canucks are still viewed as top cup contenders and they certainly won't win too many bidding wars. Outside of BC-born players, I'm not too confident. |

I trust everybody has played nicely today?
I heard this at the press conference: Gillis will present a plan to ownership and ownership will decide whether to poop can him or not. |

Honestly, I don't think we ever did that well with free agents. Many prefer the tax laws in the States rather than taking equal money in Canada. I don't think it'll change much now from then; it'll still be an uphill battle. |

I don't think it will happen. He has a plan he hasn't done horrible in his tenure. I think he needs a few more years. Unless he won't fire AV then a full management revamp is needed. He is not an idiot. Guy needs more time. |

Similar to how I'd like to see this team with a new coach before rebuilding, I'd like to see who Gillis brings in as his own coaching staff and how they do before I'm ready to definitively say that Gillis is a bad or good general manager. |

But I figure that's why he didn't announce AV is done today though. He still needs to get authorization from management that he's in charge going forward. Why fire a guy if you're already getting the boot yourself? Might as well leave the task until you get green lighted. |

Yup, you're probably right. After MG gets the nod, then I'd expect AV and his staff to be fired shortly and then Gillis has a lot of work ahead of him(hire new coaches, evaluate players/salary cap, draft prep, re-sign players, UFA prep, Luongo trade, etc.)
His eyebag and high blood pressure situation isn't going to be getting any better. |

Maybe AV/MG are lovers or they have a secret pact with the devil.
Ole Ole Ole AV sucks.
