Not sure about thrive, but I think he'd be a solid 4-5 guy.

How many other teams are paying their 4/5 guys 4.2 mil?

Fixed. I actually meant more to say that he'll be a good player to have at 1-2 million for a team this summer after he gets bought out, as a 4/5 guy. Hilarious that he didn't play over Alberts, Ballard was solid against the Kings last year and the Sharks have speed which kind of screws Alberts.

This is the Canucks biggest problem this offseason. The cap is going down, they have to get rid of 3 players (Ballard, Booth, Luongo) as well as improve the team and they only have 2 buyouts. Good Luck Gillis.

How does Aquillini feel about uying out Ballard an Booth? That is a lot of frigging money to just flush down the toilet.

I honestly think Booth could likely be back. Would like to see him under a new coach if he can stay healthy. MG stuck with Raymond and Ballard for awhile so we'll see what he does with Booth but he might be forced to buy him out because of the cap, but we'll see. I'll say it's 50/50.

For everyone that thinks that Canucks have not drafted well in the late rounds:

Burrows - Undrafted
Tanev - Undrafted
Bieksa - 151st overall
Hansen - 287 overall
Edler - 91st overall
Corrado - 150th overall

I know we don't have Datsyuk or Zetterburg, but cosidering the importance of those 6 guys to the team now and going forward it looks like we don't have the problems that we think we have in the later rounds of the draft.

Burrows has been playing RW for years now though, I believe Jensen can play both wings as well. A lot of teams have wingers playing on both sides, it's not as important as it is for d-men.

I could see him staying as well. I would have loved to have seen Booth and Kesler with Roy in the middle.

I have to admit I liked Burrows with Kesler. They looked very good together . One of Burrows best games . Time to start in with the new out with the old .

Ballard knowing Alberts is playing over him is a slap in the face. IMO AV has hand cuffed MG for trading Ballard by not giving him ice time. AV has made MG's job harder than it had to be. I personally don't think MG has done a terrible job. The main thing I fault him for is coaching.

Make them your top line and move the twins down. Hopefully Kassian puts in alot of training in offseason again, maybe bring Jensen with him.

We really need to get off this Ballard train. Gillis said today we need to get bigger stronger faster, not smaller expensive and good guy.

Its all about putting players in the best position to succeed. When you are playing on your off side it is more difficult to break out of the defensive zone, because you have to drastically alter your body position to make a pass anywhere but up the boards, and if you are receiving a pass it is on your backhand. When you see Edler or Ballard playing on their off side they don't adjust well and end up either losing the puck when it is passed to them, or making a bad pass and giving it away.

Same can be said in the offensive zone, Garrison started to really excel when he was back on the right point, because as a left handed shot that sets him up for the one time shot, or leaves a large portion of the zone open for another pass without turning his body. Garrison is a better defender, he adjusted better to playing the right side in the D zone, how he didn't end up on the right with Edler or Ballard is beyond me.

Same here, but that line still would have been mediocre in AV's system.
