I think it is better than taking on another bad contract . If he is not picked up then take on a bad contract . - VANTEL
How bad does it look on Gillis to have to buy out 2 big contracts and then put a 3rd one on waivers? That alone should cost him his job. |

We need to spend our mney on scoring not D - VANTEL
I agree. I think if you can trade edler and bieksa I would be fine keeping ballard. I just don't think you can get anything for ballard. I would be fine with a 7th round pick for him. I realize we have way to much money locked up on backend. |

Luongo to NYI for Nino N or
Lu Jensen to Pitts for Fluery Engelend |

MAF costs to much to back up Schneider.
It's to bad Okposo has been having a great playoffs, would have tried to get him. |

But then we are back to spending 4.2 mil on a 5/6 Dman with Ballard |

Then that is a 4.5 mil waste of cap space. Not good for a team trying to shed salary. At the end of the day, this team is going to have to do some major scrambling in the next couple of months. |

Would make them our 3/4. Depends if they are going to go retool or rebuild. |

If they buy out Lou's contract Gillis will get his walking papers at the same time. |

Agreed but if you had MAF and NYI have only Rocky signed next year we might be able to parlay him for Nino |

If a deal in place to move MAF then I would do it. Hate to be stuck with a 5 million dollar backup for multiple seasons (again) |

If there is something I like about the nhl it's the draft. I understand that after round 1 it's a crap shoot. I don't see it that way. The players we pick just don't produce because van thinks they are getting a steal. There is dominate junior players and players that play a nhl games in juniors that has yet to be refined. - manvanfan
And the last two first rounders the drafted were the best available out of the OHL at the spot they were drafting. They're not going to use every pick they have on the CHL.
They also picked up McEneny from Kitchener, who would have likely been a 2nd/3rd round pick if not for his injury.
Most of the Canucks draftees did quite wellin their respective leagues.
It sounds like you're expecting results similar to teams with better and more picks than the Canucks have—it's simply not realistic.
This is a product of being a successful regular season team for years, and trading some picks for depth and to fill holes for playoff runs.
The Canucks will likely get a number of help from some of the later round picks of the last 5 years, and the 1st rounders also look promising—that's good drafting.
It's not as great as some teams, but it's good.
The Canucks have never had this many prospects playing pro hockey.
I understand your frustration about the lack of elite talent, put it's simply not realistic considering the circumstances. |

Ballard / Tanev
Trade return / Corrodo
Edler and Bieksa should be able to get us something, and IMO if you package one with Luo might help moving him. |

IMO waivers - thundachunk
Maybe . NYI or Pitt might be intersted |
