Excellent blog as always Bill. As we all know, hindsight is always 20/20.

Regarding Lavy, the mishandling of the goalies coupled with his refusal to adapt his system last season to better fit his talent until it was too late, is why I would have preferred a coaching change.

Welp, that sucks. RT @CanadiensMTL: Carey Price will not return in the series against Ottawa due to a lower body injury.@CanadiensMTL

I always thought moving Bob was a mistake. He ALWAYS played the Pens tough. Good for him.

What does that even mean?
- huks99

It standardizes prospect scoring numbers from this past year across all the different leagues and projects what they would have accomplished at the NHL level.

Ristolainen's been playing against men, and Jones has been playing against fellow teenagers, how do you even begin to compare them? Equivalency attempts to do this.

Good blogg , this is probably the thing I fear the most as Bob might crash and burn like Mace did after he won the Calder.I hope he's for real and not some one year wonder.

Also this makes me think why Brassard is igniting the Rangers offence like this after being wildly inconsistant whit the CBJ (and not working out for Nash incedentally).

Thanks Bill! Great write-up as usual. Now we have something we can point people towards that gives a concise and well thought out overview of why Bob was moved.

Huge +1

Bob had major flaws in his game here that were detectable from the get go (drops too early, tucks elbows) which were exploited regularly by the opposition from the mid-point of his rookie season onward.

There was NEVER any indication that those flaws were being worked on as there was no improvement shown.

This has been the case for quite a while for multiple goalies. One of the more glaring examples being Biron ("if you're breaking in and think you'll be cut-off, swing wide, go around the net and you'll find an empty net waiting for you on the other side" - and his lack of urgency on lateral movement).

Trading Bob was the right thing to do and Bill is correct in that they should have done it when they signed Bryz.

I am happy that Bob has appeared to address his weaknesses in Columbus. I have no confidence that would have happened here.

There has also been Goalies that have credited the Goalie Coach for making changes to their game. Mason already credited Reese for helping him. As did Leighton.

From the Nucks blog...

I am hoping AV cleans out his locker for good.

I hope new a GM is on the way, even Gilman .

My wish list for the summer.

Edler to Philly for Simmonds ,

Burrows Kesler Simmonds
Daniel Hank Kassian
Jensen Schroeder Hansen
Higgins ? ?

Hamhuis Bieksa
Garrison Tanev
? Corrado

Schneider.

The first line would be one Bastard of a line to play against.

Uhh... can we make this happen?

So you place blame on the coach and the owner and yet the GM shares no blame in this? Holmgren is truly teflon-boy here.

Canucks wouldn't do that trade mainily because of salary cap issues...

they are absolutely screwed with the cap...they need to shed salary asap

so how about Read and Cousins for Edler?

I love Simmonds.. and I love what he brings, but his style is much easier to get through FA than a 26 y/o puck moving d-man who plays a good two way game.

Edler is a top pairing d-man... and could step in for Timonen right now. He also has one hell of a shot. He would immediately better our blue line.

We could sign Clowe this offseason and virtually replace Simmonds.

They would save money in that move (Simmonds for Edler)... Edler is set to begin a 6 year deal at aav 5.0

Not saying I like him, just that he brings a similar game compared to Simmonds.. You cant find an Edler in FA.

Are there any charts like this done from drafts of 5-6 years ago? Am I going to see hickey and turris at the top?

Turris has been very good the past few seasons with OTT.... granted that years draft sucked... and there are exceptions to the draft selection

Maybe in 7 years and if he can find a bit of a scoring touch they might consider him.

It's purely a projection of expected offensive production, not a de facto ISS/CSS/TSN style ranking of total draft value.

It's not a perfect system, mostly because player production will naturally vary from year to year, but it's better than anything else out there.
