I'll admit, it looked bad. I just wonder if he is told to stay high in the defensive zone. I saw Malkin try to recover late the other night and he plowed over Fleury, leaving an empty net for Tavares.

I realize he's not the best defensive player, but I never thought of him as a glider either. He always plays hard. There has to be some explanation for that play, because it looks terrible.

Someone posted that Gif on a Michigan sports blog that I read earlier in the day, and the majority of posters thought the .Gif was fake.

He does glide sometimes, no doubt about it. There has also been speculation that he hasn't been quite right since I believe Stralman threw the hip check into the boards in Game 3 - maybe that coupled with the "charging" has him hurting, who knows ? What's the word on Staal - haven't read anything, just knew he didn't play last night. Hope he didn't screw himself up trying to come back when he shouldn't have.

Some grumblings, based on comments to the press made by Ryan MacDonagh, that Staal believed that he was hurting the team by playing.

Which was the right thing to do, based on the comments that Staal made as to his lack of confidence before the game.

Wasn't against Boston where Keenan left Kovalev out for about 6 minutes to try to punish him for staying on the ice too long, and Kovalev thought he was being rewarded? I thought it was Boston, but I could be wrong. I am sure, Brian, knows, because Brian knows everything. You can ask him a random question about Game 47 of the Cup year and he would know the answer.

Hi Pete. I remember the incident, not who it was against though.

Looking back and Keenan was worse than Torts when it came to "sending messages" to his players. Mess finally had to get him to dial it down in the ECF that year because it was negatively impacting the team. Funny how Keenan is remembered as the right coach at the right time but Torts is criticized roundly for the same type of coaching style. Winning does that. If Torts finds a way to squeeze a Cup from this group, be it this year or next, no one will remember how many of us wanted him out at times this season.

The Pens humping continues on NBC. Keith Jones, "the Islanders woke the sleeping giant". Really? Do we know that yet bc they didn't get the message after Game 2 what makes him think they got the message now?

I would love to see the Isles jump out 3-0. What would Bylsma do then?

Keith Jones lost too many fights, how can you wake a sleeping giant without proof?

I can't even listen to these idiots on NBC anymore. The love fest during the call is bad enough. I can't watch the pre game shows or intermissions anymore
