I want the best player, don't care what position. You can't miss on a first rounder. You better get a solid NHLer, at the very least.

I have no objection if the best player available is a defenseman, but If the best defenseman on the board at 11 is rated lower than 3 forwards, take the forward.

No, teams should draft based on their own internal rankings. For instance, if my team is drafting 11th and the best player on their board is a center, they should take that center even if there's a need for other positions.

If they have two players rated equally, or almost equally rated, and one plays a positional need, then they should consider the position the player plays more heavily.

Understood. ISS and CSB can be helpful, but they're just a source. You got to have your own guys and have trust in them.

Lot of folks weren't too happy with the Flyers for drafting Scott Laughton last year over Ollie Maatta. But while Maatta remained a good prospect, Laughton had a bit of a breakout year and rose in a lot of the "analysts" eyes.
