Akeson does seem to have a lot more drive and desire than Sim ever did, though. Sim seemed to feel that his skill should have been enough, or at least that was my impression of him. He simply seemed to feel he didn't have to work as hard as other fringe guys.

Well if Akeson is going to make it to the NHL, it's going to be with desire and drive. And heart and determination. That can overcome a lot of deficiencies in an area.

You know its going to be a long off-season when we're reduced to debating the merits of AHL players in May.

playoff hockey to date has been very entertaining. i hope it continues. i'm enjoying watching all the games every night and genuinely not caring who wins. the emotional drain i experience is significant when dealing with the flyers this time of year usually. i know my wife is grateful for the break.

I always enjoy playoff hockey...and If the Flyers played the Pens last night, I would have been a wreck on the couch

Funny story.. I was at the bar with a bunch of guys from my team... Both the Islanders and Sens win (like I had hoped) and when they scored the go ahead goal (Isles) and GWG (Sens) I went nuts... The bartender comes over and says to me "So how much did you put down on these games" My answer? "NONE"

I was so pumped last night

It HAS been good for my blood pressure to not be living and dying with the Flyers, and I have enjoyed watching the Islanders and their Cardiac Kids impression.

Also, I'm rather enjoying cheering for Toronto's return to playoff hockey to end in a single round.

Id take Crosby 10 days a week.
- jak521

But if he is concussed for 5 of those days?

This. I was actually hoping for a sweep where they'd get outscored like 45-2. Also loving Ottawa and MacLean referring to Montreal's players by their jersey numbers.

Hell only put up 10 points instead of 20.

Honestly... to me, it really isnt even worth talking about.. with the whole Crosby or AO or Stamkos stuff. Crosby is that much better than them.... injury included.

Yeah, I gave a little cheer when the Isles iced it, too.

Thats another thing, watching the intensity level of Ottawa vs. Montreal makes me want Quebec to get another franchise ASAP. Any combination of Ottawa/Montreal/Quebec in a playoff series will be an outright war. I would add Toronto to that mix, but I'm busy hoping they never make the playoffs again.

The timeout with :17 is still my favorite part so far.

I was loving it last night.. Islanders come back and win it. Sens do the same.. couldnt ask for a better night. (dont say well the Flyers could be in it)

I was even a bit of a troll... when the Sens took it to OT, I tweeted Buccigross...

I was really pulling for Boston that last day, as I wanted to see Montreal vs. Toronto. But that would ensure that one would get to Round 2.

I watched Ottawa/Montreal. I walked back in the room later after the game and Therien was in his press conference getting all teary eyed over the positioning of a face off and I was like "What the hell is this guy going on about?' it went for a good 10 minutes.

Hilarious...

It is the truth though, and the only thing that could happen to change that is that if he gets shut down for his personal life outside of hockey. He is the best player in the world, and it's not close. AO and Stamkos aren't close. I would say Datsyuk is the next closest honestly. And it's not even a spitting distance.

Each time the Islanders scored I completely laughed out loud. No doubt the Pens can recover but with them being annointed the last two years as being the team to beat...it's quite amusing

Who would ever do that? Flower wilts in the play-offs. His D hangs him out to dry half the time... Sound familiar?

yeah i actually missed that...so I cannot really speak of it in terms of specifics. What i can say is that it's the same old star treatment that most of the elite stars get and in some ways should get to some extent. It just so happens that it's Crosby that did it.
As usual i would like them to be more consistent or just put the whistles away. when i watched the ending of last nights game, as much as i wanted some penalties to be called, i liked how they put the whistles away. either way you need to be consistent with your calls and this is what the NHL sucks at...
