Cooke is challenging Martin on the ice and Martin puts his hands down at his side trying to draw a penalty. Cooke backs Martin into the door where Neal decides to join Cooke forcing Martin into the bench...for a good 7-10 seconds, Martin is unable to leave the bench. Both players were semi engaged but the moment Cooke and Neal are no longer part of the play while Martin still is, they need to be told to get out of his way..instead they were allowed to hold him there while the Pens pursued the puck in our zone.

Maybe if Martin had tried to engage in the play instead of standing there right between Cooke and the bench door, it wouldn't have happened. Let it go dude, all 3 were stupid for doing it.

Didn't Pittsburgh fans also cheer when Kasparitis knocked Lindros out?
- jmatchett383

Yep...I remember Kasparitis and a few Pens standing laughing to eachother as Lindros failed to stand while the crowd cheered...

Remember, this all started in front of the Isles bench, not the Pens...Martin was perferctly satisfied to stand there and see if a hot-headed Cooke would throw a punch...If Martin's biggest offense was simply standing still in front of Cooke, I rest my case. Cooke purposely backed Martin, with the help of Neal and another player into the bench and wouldn't allow him back on the ice.

Rags, Flyers, and now Isles that's it.
It is classless, that entire arena could clearly see him reach for his face, so you don't give me that crap. Its a classless move, by a classless fan base, and karma will come back and bite you guys.

I have been to 100s of games and never have I ever heard the fans at mellon or consol do anything but cheer when someone is seen to be ok after an injury.

What a game last night!!! IT was the most entertaining game I have ever seen. Fleury I don't know what he is doing out there. He is making RDP look like a Vezina trophy winner.

My only problem is after the game the Penguins being sore losers. Seeing both sides I don't understand it. MAlkin was holding his hand after he thought he was pummeling Hamonic but I think he was hitting his helmet.

All in all great game and cant wait for game 5. Right now Islanders are in the Penguins head big time

Oh and on a side note I might have been the only one who was actually happy when Amac went down. The Islanders seemed to play a lot better when he got hurt

So, in other words, every rival the Penguins have is classless...

Again...see Kasparitis hit on Lindros (maybe you're too young). Injury to Hartnell as well....

Yup. If people are that obsessed with class, I don't know, polo is probably more their thing than hockey? It's a sport where people are still allowed to have fist fights and bloody each other up...you're probably not attracting the "golf clap" crowd to that. Just shake your head at the occasional absurdity and get over it. Jeez, LaFontaine played for the Rangers after their fans shook his ambulance years before!

I don't know...I've gone to hockey games my entire life and never looked to the Coliseum, or really most sports venues, as shining examples of class and respect. It's a bunch of drunk sports fans. You're more likely to see a fight there than a gentleman throwing his overcoat on a puddle for a lady, you know? One of my earlier hockey memories is dad taking me to see and Islanders-Rangers game on St. Patrick's Day. Not hard to imagine how classy folks were that day! When they announced the stars of the game, the guy in front of us yelled, "The security guards!"

I think slamming another player's head onto the ice, repeatedly, is rather egregious. If you bother reading most of the posts in these threads for the past week, you'd find that I have no problem with most of the officiating, they have missed a couple of calls, and I even didn't have a big problem with the Strait penalty in Game 3.

I'm just trying to point out that allowing that type of play to go on right in front of a ref in a league where the league officials claim that ridding the sport of concussions is a priority is laughable. Morrow, not that it would matter with his salary, should be fined, at least if the league were serious about preventing head injuries. I'm sure a Pens fan would have been ecstatic if it were Hamonic slamming Malkin's head, repeatedly, to the ice.
Yes, it was Cizikas, my bad.
Hopefully we can get a quick one on Vokoun in 5, get into the Pens head a little more and maybe, just maybe, make Game 6 a possible clincher. The last 3 games have been phenomenal.

- potvin05

I agree. If the NHL is serious about protecting the players from concussions they can't let that happen without doing something. I wish the NHLPA would say something. I don't think they would because that would mean calling out one of their members. But if they truly represent the players they should want that type of behavior out of the game.

You're right, he's perfectly entitled to stand there. But if that's the case, he wasn't really part of the play to begin with. I always thought that when you're on the ice, you should be involved in the play, not standing still 100 feet away from the puck,

I'm not saying Cooke or Neal were without fault. I'm just saying that Martin was the one who initiated the confrontation. That's all.

Are you arguing that Martin did not deliberatley get between Cooke and the bench door, stand still, look him dead in the eye, and smile?
- jmatchett383

I'm not arguing anything man, believe me. They were jawing eachother and Morrow and Cooke shoved him through the door. It was awesome. Love hockey like this.

Dude you are embarrassing the PEnguin fan base right now. Don't forget when DP got knocked how not only the fans were cheering but your players were as well. WE cant help it if Crosby is injury prone. It is ok it is a beautiful morning and life goes on.
