Or we could use patience instead of blowing one of our most valuable assets on a carle-esque player who we're just going to hate when he gets here because of his insufficient d play. I'm tellin you, drafting is golden. Our team is young enough so that our best players will still be a year or 2 away from their prime when our best youth reaches the NHL. Matt Read, a 2014 1st, a 2013 2nd, 2014 2nd, and braydon coburn. What are your opinions on this for the #4 or there around? Nich is gonna be good, like real good. He can be our poor man's Ovechkin. He plays the style, the position, has the size, the speed, the hands, the shot isn't there yet but it will get there, even the country. I'd trade matt read, coburn, and a #20 prospect for a poor man's ovechkin, idk about you. Pulock or Zadorov can be real good two-way dmen, and yes I think drafting is the cheapest and most feasible option for getting our #1. Until they're ready, we can sign stop gaps (See Gonchar, Sergei; Streit, Mark) until they're closer, and still compete for the playoffs in the mean time. What do you guys, kings of realism, think of this trade? Are my orange glasses on to tight? Is Coburn worth even aittle bit more than a 2nd rounder?

Your aren't getting a top 5 pick without giving up one of your best young players, and possibly the 11 pick. Have you even considered what the needs of the teams picking in the top 5 are? And why they would make the trade?

I'm GM of the team with the 4th pick, and you call me asking for the pick. If I need a Forward, I'm asking you for Couturier plus.

Position has no relevance to the point he was making.

The cloning went fine, it was the rapid aging to get him ready for this season that went wrong.
- twotoekenn

Actually sources said that they used DNA from current concussion Pronger and when he was aged he still ended up having a concussion.

anything more than couturier and a 2nd is pretty good overpayment. Idk, I think I'd give B Schenn and a couple picks for someone like Nich though... I guess you have to weigh your priorities. Homer wants to get bigger, this is a pretty creative way to do it.

It sure is creative. Only one issue that you continually don't consider. The other team has to agree.

One basic principle. If you want a top asset from a team. Be prepared to give up top assets in return.

Absolutely hate that thought process. The game has changed and you need to get more players with speed and playmaking ability.

Ideally you need a mix. And bigger doesn't necessarily mean slower.

It's true... for Nich I think it'd truly be worth it though. I'd give quite a bit for a poor man's ovechkin, I guess B Schenn makes that list.

When I think bigger and hear those words from Homer it brings me to the old days.

I honestly don't care about the size but more about the players ability to play the game.

Stick & stay at #11 we have many needs that can't be filled with giving up assets and picks to move up.

And the other team knows that they're in line for a potential impact player. They aren't giving that up for a solid forward, a defensive defenseman. A 1st round pick that could be late. And some later round picks.

That would be the wise thing to do. I don't see any player that's going to make an immediate impact for this club next year.

I agree with you. More about the size of the fight in the dog, then the size of the dog. But I think some bigger players in the forward ranks is a need. That can be accomplished by younger players maturing physically, and possibly by some players already in the Organization. But I think they could use a strong physical 3rd line Winger type.

Some could but what the Flyers would have to give up just to get them isn't worth it and still won't fix some of the issues they had this past season.

It's still shocking to see the playoffs happening and the Flyers not playing right now.

I don't know much about all the players in the draft but the Flyers biggest need is upgrading the blue-line and I don't see many rookies stepping in right away and being a stud.

I was actually talking about a way to get the #4-6 without giving the #11. Nich at 4-6, Pulock at 11.

Maybe slipping some type of hallucinogenics into the drink of choice of a GM at the draft?

Personally I wouldn't want to pay that price, I don't see it as possible and keeping the #11 pick in this draft.

Personally it's not possible in my eyes, it will cost you in this draft more than you want to even think about giving up.

Well next years 1st rounder would obviously be involved. B Schenn + 2014 1st rounder?
