So you dont think if this roster this year had 2 great players added to it they would be contenders?
Not superstar, just great players. Put suter and kane on this years sabres under rolston. How good are they? - robz228
Just stop with the video game put this player with this player........... How do you get greta players ? Though the draft. IF we were going to get those star players wouldnt we have traded for them instead of say leino? |

That's a Norris candidate and Hart Candidate. Those are superstars - sbroads24
Okay rephrase. Not superstars crosby or stamkos.
Not once in a blue moon players. |

15-11-5 is a winning record? - hubie
projected over 48 games we are playing right now. you cant tell me you would rather be debating about the quality of the roster right now than talking about being in a dogfight with pittsburgh |

Dear god you are impossible. Its a hypothetical question. You are saying the team is far worse than I believe it is. So I'm telling you the 2 types of players that I believe this team needs to be contenders, and instead of being a logical human being and following along you just spew more nonsense
And all of this changes if miller/vanek leave, by the way. |

yea they are, could easily be up 2-1 on that series just as much as they are down.
i dont post often on here but my buddys i talk hockey with i have made my opinion clear that pittsburgh can be beaten. IMO fleury is the X-factor for them
edit: sundays game was great between them |

dog fight of a pitbull vs a poodle? NO thanks still have the sour taste from the Philly series.
SO if you double/ triple 15-11-5 it someone comes out as a winning record? The condensed schedule would make it hard to project out the standings. Dont have the numbers but I do beleive we have far more home games under rolston or should say towards the end of the year. Had the schedule been flipped and had a bunch of home games early maybe the year is different. |

You are talking about players we can not get. We need to be so bad that we get in the top 5. Yes if we had Kane Stamkos Weber Suter Parise we would be a great team |

So why are you absolutely refusing to understand my point. My point is the team is 2 great players away from being contenders. I dont care which great players or how they go about getting them. Obviously not players already on another team.
You keep telling me im wrong and they are worse than i think |

and players we probably wont get without trading up in upcoming drafts. i cant believe this roster is bottom 5, especially if miller and vanek are both on it

yea i tend to think im not that crazy, but i honestly believe we would be putting up just as much if not more of a fight against them as the islanders are.. and if the isles beat them my point is even further validated
miller>fleury... but thats an argument for another day because we are golfing right now

Would be interesting where they lack the goalie skill we lack the scoring punch that they do. But over 7 games talent typically wins out |

sabres are just in a better spot than most teams who dump everything in rebuild because they have good young players with hodsgon, flynn, ennis, foligno, porter, pysyk, weber, ruhweedel(maybe).
Dont even need to add free agents. Myers plays like his rookie year and any of grigorenko, girgensons, armia, live up to their apparent potential and the team is in a good spot - robz228
Yeah but even if you are optimistic you can't expect all of those things to come next season. I actually think Myers will have a good year and Grigorenko will start to be productive, but Girgensons and Armia will start out in Rochester and get called up.
I just think that we should go after FA's to bolster our group of veterans, its basically all AHL'ers which can be bad for development especially if we lose Miller and/or Vanek.
I don't think we will be a legit contender but we should be able to make the playoffs. I know we dont want to 'just' make the playoffs and I agree, but if we look at a timetable of when our young stars should start making a difference in the NHL it will be around 2-3 years, so the year after next. |

Right. By no means do i think or have i ever said its a 1 year plan. Myers maybe is, but they need to find a great center and defenseman somewhere along the lines |
