listening to andrew peters blabber on about how hed go all in on clarkson and horton

garuntee horton gets 5-6 mil maybe more after these playoffs

clarkson will be around 4 mil

pity the teams that spend that much on them

Probably won't be an issue for us at all. If we get close to the cap this year we can buy out Leino or Stafford (They won't unless they have to), and after this year the cap will be back up above 72 million. Lockout season exceeded revenue projections, and next year we have more growth and 8 outdoor games. We will be fine cap wise.

Clarkson and Horton aren't worth those salaries, but they aren't far off. Personally I don't like either of their styles of play for our team, and Horton is scrambled eggs but is playing better now. Sabres could manage those salaries easily as long as they are short-term.

There will be other solid forwards available that I think would be better on the sabres IMO. The Wild will likely be buying out Heatley but they will still have problems resigning a goalie and 6 players on ~10m, they will part with someone there. The Canucks are in the same boat and even if they buyout Luongo (Which looks sketchy bc of the way Schneider is playing) and Booth they still have about 7 players to resign on ~12m.

Then there are the buyout players themselves. Heatley, Briere, maybe Lecavalier. They all want to go to a contender, but if none of them can afford to sign them, they might consider signing short-term with Buffalo if we pay them well.

I think the sabres aren't as bad as people say on here. If we can add a couple FA's, not even top-line talent, we can solidify the team and turn it around quick. I think the FA market will be favorable to the Sabres because players will become available due to the cap and buyouts, and there will be less buyers out there for the same reasons. We will have to overpay them to come here, but if we can get them at short-term deals we can manage.

I like Rolston as the coach, although Vigneault would have been interesting for me. Not high on Roy or Boucher, Cunneyworth is meh.

I'm glad Regher has rediscovered how to play hockey again out in LA. and Leopold out in St Louis. And Roy was plenty good as Dallas top line center. Darcy's biggest mistake wasnt the roster's he kept building, it was the coach he kept hired.

Not excited about RR, but I can live with it.

Leopold didn't play well last night. Went all in on a bad pinch and the Kings went back and scored on that tic-tac-toe play.

Gary Roberts was a colossal scumbag as a player. If I hear one more person sing his praises, I may slowly, and with a smile on my face, force knitting needles into each of my ears and laugh maniacally.

Thanks, I'll hang up and unplug the radio.

Also, wouldn't hate having Roy back, I think getting Ott was better for us though. Don't get into comparing our team pre-Ott to this year, our team was bad for many many reasons not just losing Roy. Roy can score and has good hands, I hated how Lindy coached him though, put him out in defensive situations which pissed me off royally.

Maybe if we got rid of Darcy early we could have kept Roy and traded Stafford for Ott instead.... dream scenario.

Not his only bad play, was the worst play of the game though. Saw him watching and not taking a man on a bunch of shifts, made 2 ill-advised passes.

If they add 1 top tier defenseman to their team they make the playoffs. AKA if myers stops sucking

they fired the coach, traded the captain, by most accounts actively tried to trade their assistant captain

Face of the franchise goalie and best scorer have one foot out the door. GM telling fans to prepare for down years.

Did i miss the part where they arent rebuilding?

sabres are just in a better spot than most teams who dump everything in rebuild because they have good young players with hodsgon, flynn, ennis, foligno, porter, pysyk, weber, ruhweedel(maybe).

Dont even need to add free agents. Myers plays like his rookie year and any of grigorenko, girgensons, armia, live up to their apparent potential and the team is in a good spot

Not being sarcastic. Just have a different point of view. I think the experts on here predicting the end of the world are hilarious.

Take myers off the 2010 team. Do they win the division? Highly unlikely.

Iffy example because they flamed out in the playoffs, but Vanek getting targeted and taken out really changed the series. Might have won it
