Yup. I think it is time for two new assistants. Is Teppo still with the team as well?

as an Isles fan that just finally now is seeing some success from our lengthy rebuild, I feel for you guys. You had all the pieces and then due to ownership had to let some go, finally got a new owner and your gm added the wrong pieces at very high dollars. I will say after having Erhoff snub the Isles, it's nice to see him getting stuck in a rebuilding situation, just as the Isles are starting to turn a corner.

I do feel for you guys though, having a new owner willing to spend could have (and should have) resulted in a lot better decisions from your GM.

Boy, and they thought the booing was bad this year. I won't spend a nickel on anything Sabres for a while but if I were at the opening game next season I would start booing before the first faceoff. This team has gone from bad to worse under Gas Pipe Pegula, what a train wreck he is so far. He can build whatever he wants down town and give millions to the Penn State Sandusky's but if he continues to fail with the NHL team he will be nothing but a bust of an owner. Man I usually don’t get to jazzed up but this RR decision is really getting my “goat”.

Pegula took a swing his first offseason signing Ehrhoff and Leino and missed. Now theyre realizing the team is flawed and remaking it. poop happens.

This move is absolutely devastating. Just devastating. This was the worse case scenario for the offseason. Retaing Darcy and Darcy jr. I've had enough of this whole Rolston is a teacher story. The guy is a no name. He is nothing more than a cronie for Darcy. This amount of overwhelming grief I feel is depressing. This is the final nail in the coffin. Goodbye.

100% agree on your last statement.

This team will be difficult to get excited about and as fan of this team for every one of their 42 years of existence, I was hoping for a short re-build, hire an experienced coach to get them over the hump. No UFA's will want to come here now. This ownership group continues to do things that defy logic. More suffering. Gonna be a long cold winter in the 716.

This is a type of hire that assures Darcy of staying longer as a Sabres GM!
That is all!!!

If an irrelevant coaching change for a rebuilding franchise is the final nail in the coffin then you must not have been paying attention. No matter who coaches this team next year, if vanek and Miller are gone it will likely be a bottom 5 team.

If the Sabres model is to build according to Chicago and Pittsburgh, then they are following it right. Both teams had no name coaches come in for the rebuild, fired them and replaced them with new ones and they won the cup within a year or two.

Not saying that finding the right coach is useless, just during this particular time when we plan to suck no matter what.

Did they have the worst GM in the league at the helm during those periods too?

Na, it’s more than just “Sh!t Happens”. There is no reason to still have Darcy running this team, he had plenty of time to put together a winner and it has not happened and by the looks of things it won’t happen in the years to come. Pegula just seems like a real nice guy who has no idea how to run a professional sports franchise. I don’t know his whole business history but I can’t imagine he had to claw and fight his way to the top leaving friends and colleagues in his wake, he just doesn’t seem like that type of guy.

I am fine thanks... You know, I could live with Rolston at coach if he brought in the right assistant coaches. Hell, it was the assistant coaches that helped make Marv Levy so successful with the Bills...... But Rolston just does not seem to be very emotional...... Kinda like a statue back there....

I agree Darcy should go. Most likely Terry gave him a clean slate coming in. They did fire Lindy who he said "aint going nowhere" so I dont think its about being overly friendly, which is why I go with clean slate. Personally I believe Darcy has one more year and if doesnt make big moves hes out, just an opinion.

You don't need a brilliant GM to draft 1st overall. You could have asked a highly trained orangutang to go up there and make the pick for Crosby. Same goes for Kane, they were consensus 1st overall picks and all those GMs had to do is look at an ISS ranking chart that had both those guys at the top of the list every month.
