Rolston staying on is a non issue. Regier's management of team personnel is and always will be the issue.

Exactly how I feel.

Funny because we say that about a lot of the players on this team but, we are still stuck in the same position. It's easy to blame Miller and Vanek but the blame is all around with all the players.
- SABRES 89

Also have to worry about the cap floor which is $44 mil next year(if memory serves me).

IMO 2 of Miller, Leino, and Staff are gone via trade/buyout. Vanek will be moved at the trade deadline.

We are 5 years away IMO, this team has been set back 2 more years with Lindy and Darcy staying when Pegula bought the team.

I personally hope that is how it ends up. I believe Vanek's value is maximized at the deadline anyway.

listening to andrew peters blabber on about how hed go all in on clarkson and horton

garuntee horton gets 5-6 mil maybe more after these playoffs

clarkson will be around 4 mil

pity the teams that spend that much on them

Will he be eating that many minutes at 37 with that cap hit. 4 mil is fine . 8 more years I'm not so sure
- sbroads24

IMO he'll be back playing in Germany by the time he is 37 (18/19 season). So we won't have to worry about him. If he is still here, a guy with a $4 mil cap hit making $1 mil per will be an easy trade to a team in need of reaching the cap floor.

Boy, and they thought the booing was bad this year. I won't spend a nickel on anything Sabres for a while but if I were at the opening game next season I would start booing before the first faceoff. This team has gone from bad to worse under Gas Pipe Pegula, what a train wreck he is so far. He can build whatever he wants down town and give millions to the Penn State Sandusky's but if he continues to fail with the NHL team he will be nothing but a bust of an owner. Man I usually don’t get to jazzed up but this RR decision is really getting my “goat”.

So if Ron is such a great teacher then why did they decide to send Grigo back to Juniors (to be coached by Roy who they didn't bother interviewing)?

Weber makes 950k and that is what is he gets qualified to retain his rights. He has arb rights this year as well. IMO he'll get bumped up to around $2 mil per on a 2yr deal.

Hodgson will either get a two year bridge gap deal in the $3.5 per range or a 6-8 year deal in the $5 per range.

The issue is if you remove Vanek, Miller, Leino, and Stafford from the team over the summer, you take their cap down to $26,840,000.

Im not sure if anyone else noticed this but if you look onto tsn for this story, they have a picture of James Patrick instead of RR. I mean I know they have the same kinda glasses but come on.

Really? Not one single other interview? No look at all at anyone else? Rolston completely outclasses all other coaching candidates; to the point where not a single additional candidate is interviewed? I mean, I guess it is the same logic that kept Ruff here for a decade and a half. Boucher, Laviolette, Torts, Vigneault, Paul Maurice- not to mention the plethora of assistants who coach on good NHL playoff teams. This hire just HAD to be made right now?

I don't agree. Vanek is more attractive with a year left on his contract so the team has time to resign him because it's a huge trade commitment. Look at what happened with Iginla in Calgary, 2 college players and a 1st???? I have to imagine teams would have offered more to Calgary during the 2012 offseason.

My last hope is they let Ron get new assistants. I'm done with James Patrick and Kevyn Adams running "special" teams.

100% agree on your last statement.

This team will be difficult to get excited about and as fan of this team for every one of their 42 years of existence, I was hoping for a short re-build, hire an experienced coach to get them over the hump. No UFA's will want to come here now. This ownership group continues to do things that defy logic. More suffering. Gonna be a long cold winter in the 716.

Yup. I think it is time for two new assistants. Is Teppo still with the team as well?
