Being that Justin Schultz kind of faded in the middle/late in the year, I don't think he necessarily deserved a nomination.

That being said, faulting Justin for getting most of his points on the PP AND faulting him for having a low +/- seems a bit like burning the candle on both ends.

If a guy plays little pk time and a lot of PP time, scoring most of his points there, it stands to reason most of his points don't count towards +/- and ALL of his points against DO count towards it. Not an excuse, but simply a statistical tidbit that often accompanies offensive dmen.

Let's get a list of offensive dmen's +/- over comparable EV ice time. Might be a better stat...

Actually, as far as I know "nomination" is a loose term. They tally the votes and know the winner, the "nominees" are just the top 3 vote-getters, having not yet announced the winning player.

Which means one of the nominees is 100% more likely to win, and the other two are PRECISELY as likely.

As far as the rebuild sh1t goes... It doesn't work overnight... Ask Pens' fans (the Pens had 5 years of lottery picks in a row) or Blackhawks' fans (made the playoffs once in a ten year period)...
