More than hallf of Schultz points were on the PP. Reminds me of another former Oiler... Rob Schremp. Terrible at defence and can only really score on the PP. Not quite as bad, but..... - TandA4Flames
get out of here troll. He's used to playing 40 games a year and has played over 80 this year. He was still on pace for 46P in a regular season. Sorry there isn't that kind of talent in CGY where the definition of an elite player is Lee Stempniak.
Keep on trollin my friend, we feel nothing but shame for you now |

-17 on the 7th worst team in the league. Also he was used to playing 40 games a year in college, so it's expected he burn out after 60+ games. If you saw any of his first 20 games, you'd know he's not a defensive liability.
When JBo was a -21 last year for CGY, did anyone question his defensive play? - TheNugeIsHuge
Yes. Yes they did. And he didn't exactly earn a Norris nomination either. |

Don't know if any non-oiler fan on this site has ever seen Schultz play? Do you all just look at -17 and think can't play D? Fowler's a stud and was a combined -53 in his first 2 seasons. +- doesn't tell the whole story. Watch a game before you all make uneducated, ignorant comments regarding Schultz's defensive game. |

Don't know anyone that criticizes jBo's D game. Top 10 skater in the league and great in his own end. Flames fans were ready to give him the norris and the vezina before he got traded. How many "he's worth a top8 pick and a A- prospect" comments did I see ? |

Being that Justin Schultz kind of faded in the middle/late in the year, I don't think he necessarily deserved a nomination.
That being said, faulting Justin for getting most of his points on the PP AND faulting him for having a low +/- seems a bit like burning the candle on both ends.
If a guy plays little pk time and a lot of PP time, scoring most of his points there, it stands to reason most of his points don't count towards +/- and ALL of his points against DO count towards it. Not an excuse, but simply a statistical tidbit that often accompanies offensive dmen.
Let's get a list of offensive dmen's +/- over comparable EV ice time. Might be a better stat... |

Obvious there isn't any talent in Deadmonton either, just look at where they end up year after year after year.

Troll. How quaint.
On pace for 46pts but also a -34. That's Calder quality right there. I also find it amusing an Oiler fan talking about "elite" quality. You'd think that, given your teams last several years of rebuild, you would cut some slack to the fact that we literally just started ours, of course we have no elite players... Yet.
TheNugeisHuge, the new face of Vancouver quality trash talk. You gonna make the PO next year or is your team going to tank 30 games in after going on a slight skid again. |

Agreed. Hall, Eberle, RNH, and Yakupov are all talentless jerk-offs. |

Talked about this recently that their minds were prob made up 2 weeks before the end of the season. A good chunk of the time where yaks played his best hockey.
Not only that, but he struggled mightily for a good stretch over the middle chunk.
Certainly not a 'natch' to win and i think he was for sure behind huberdeau and gallagher. Shoulda at least been nominated ahead of saad tho imo |

Huberdeau and Saad are better than both of the Oiler players and isnt Schultz like 25 or something? Getting 21 mins a game on a team who have 0 good defenceman is not nearly as impressive as Saad being a top line player on Chicago.... now lets see your next post about trading Sam Gagner for Malkin because the oilers need size. |

Schultz can't be on that list with that dreadful +/-.
Yakupov deserves to be on the list.
Brodin deserves the trophy.
Huberdeau a runner up.
Gallegher 2nd runner up.
Saad...? Really? I don't get that one. |
