I like how everyone says that Pittsburgh is going back to their bad habits.....and not the Islanders are outplaying them. Whatever

We won't get any credit even if we win the series. It'll be the usual, "The Pens played down to their level" BS

There were plenty of calls that went unnoticed for us. If it was us it would not have been called. No conspiracy just facts
- mighty13duck

I think that the Reffing all series has been atrocious. However, the atrocity has swung in both teams favor at different points. A lot of missed calls followed by soft ones. The number of Power plays are pretty equal. The Isles just can't do anything on special teams.

That said, the call on Strait was soft, but he put himself in a bad situation. Two hands on the shoulder and from behind. Also, why is he even on the ice against Crosby? He just took a penalty in the third period on Sid when he got beat. Cappy should answer for that.

You are 100% correct. Hope it(our PP and PK) isn't our undoing in this series. We've been great 5 on 5 but that only gets you so far especially in the PO's. As far as Capuano he's a complete moron. Most Isles fans would agree. The officiating both ways has been terrible, doesn't make that ending any less painful. It was a little weak of a call and there were two blatant ones ignored moments before. Life goes on and hopefully our team does!

I agree with you that it's not the ducks. The west can be won by any team. However the sharks aren't as good as they seem. They're playing the same Canucks that lost to our ahl team and got smoked by the oilers. Need I say more? Oh ya, same division as the flames, oilers and avalanche
- selanne4pres

Good point, I've always thought the Canucks had it easy. I think I was just being superficial about top seed vs low seed situation and the Sharks being the only low seed team to go on the road and wipe the floor with the top seed. But I agree, I think the west can be won by any team as well, except maybe the Canucks (I don't mean that as a jab towards Canuck fans, they have just looked commotose in the last 2 playoffs series).

Yeah, I can understand all of the islander's fans frustration. It seemed as if the refs were going to let the OT play out. That penalty was way too close to call. But if the isles lose the series its not because of that call. Its due to the ineffective pp and the pens being opportunistic.

That may be one aspect that is getting overlooked about the pens. They may not be playing the best of hockey right now, but they don't miss opportunities. This causes them to be the most dangerous team in the league...IMO

Bottom line is this: if you give the Penguins a power play, you're going to have a he11 of a time stopping them from scoring. If you give them a 5 on 3, you might as well just backhand the faceoff into your own net and get it over with.

That said, all I ask for is consistency. I see guys getting speared, pushed face first into the boards, hit in the face with sticks, and....crickets....but like I said before, God forbid anyone shoots the puck over the glass at the Coliseum- a referee at Madison Square Garden will call the penalty from 40 miles away....and if you give your check a pat on the back with your hand, it's right to the box for holding. The priorities are bass ackwards, IMO.

Chicago. Best forward depth in the league and great defensive depth. If they didn't have sh1t for goalies, they'd be winning cups year after year

For the record, I pick NYI for the upset.

I picked them to finish last this year and they made the playoffs so I owed it to them.

People laughed at me, but they're in there, and they dominated game 3. Such a fast team. With some decent goaltending they'd win the series. Nabokov is CONSTANTLY off of his angles. Should trade for Lu0ngo

Problem is, if Strait doesn't grab Crosby, Sid has a great scoring chance. I understand not calling penalties in overtime, but when it takes away a good scoring chance, it's usually called.
- cap1681

This is exactly right ... Only time u see a penalty in OT is when a scoring chance is eliminated or the retarded over the glass penalty ... Anything else goes

if it's 2004, that's not a called penalty

if it's 2006, it's a penalty 19 times out of 20

if it's 2010 it's a penalty 5 out of ten times

if it's 2013 it's a penalty 1 out of 20 times, and it was called because crosby's name was on the back of the jersey

you guys got screwed yesterday and the ref's will never be consistent

take them down, please

- homiedclown

so it's perfectly fine to just grab guys when they skate around you...? hmmmm must have missed that rule change.

The winner of the Blues-Kings series ( provided they are too banged up after)
These teams are playing the best hockey so far, best series by far....it's the one series for the most part that the refs are letting them play, funny how that works.

How many times can I hear this? Ok our pp hasn't been great but our 5 on 5 play is crushing you guys, and in my opinion 5 on 5 should be what dictates a team more than playing one or two men up...
- mighty13duck

Then don't take any (frank)ing penalties. If you honestly think there is some kind of conspiracy in the NHL you're an idiot

The funny thing about this is if you asked Oiler fans if we suck or not, we say we do suck and had a bad season, we aren't delusional. But on the other hand, if you ask people like you if they think the Leafs are arguably the least likely team in the playoffs to win the cup, all we get is a bunch of trolling and bullpoop, usually completely irrelevant to what was even being discussed.

That's mostly because everyone trolls Leafs fans about the obvious over and over again. For the last 10 years.
