Wrecked it did he? Maybe he was just trying to emulate the Penguins organization by being so horrible for such an extended period of time that the year after year of high 1st round draft picks finally paid off. Hell, the foundation he laid may even come back to haunt the Pens if the Isles can somehow manage to pull off the upset. Man, that would be sweet and a fitting tribute. - TheRat14
I'd be stunned if you can find ANY Islander fan that would disagree with me. They haven't won a playoff round in 17 years, and missed the playoffs all but 4 times. So yes. Wrecked.
And what foundation? You DO know that he was replaced as GM after 2005 right? None of the players that he picked are currently even with the islanders. Moron. |

No need for name calling. It is a violation of the COC. We're better than that. |

Only to make your mom/sister/wife/girlfriend think I actually care about her before I have sex with her in a very uncomfortable place, and I don't mean the backseat of a Volkswagen!.
(Sorry...I had to go there! Just like drawing a penalty, sometimes you just HAVE to resort to a "your mom" joke!) |

Wow... Crosby dove 6 years ago?
Well, that is overwhelming evidence that everytime he is hauled down that he must have dove.

Not that it matters to much but are you a Pens or Flyers fan? - mighty13duck
Flyers fan. I'm married to a wonderful lady from Pittsburgh and we live in the Philly area. So if the Flyers aren't playing/contending with the Pens, I'll root for the Pens because it makes her happy. |

In all fairness he hasn't played much the past few years. TBH I don't fault him for his diving. I would do the same thing. |

It's really the league's fault. If they give him an unfair advantage, then it's in the best interests of him and his team to use it. Whatever it takes to get the W. |

Funny how that works. My wife is from Butler (30 minutes North of Pittsburgh) but as she wasn't a hockey fan, there was no need to re-program her. |

He may have fell down a little easier, but I don't see the issue here. They will call that most of the time, dive or no dive.
Islanders should have killed it. |

And there's that.
And the fact that none of the Islanders argued the call on the ice when it happened. If if was the travesty of justice that some fans are portraying it, don't you think that maybe the guys directly affected would have had a problem with it? |

That is common place on this blog as well, especially from him.

That delay of game call from two inches inside the blue line was fun huh? |

We all can agree that Roenick and Milbury are idiots, but Derek from the Pensblog has brought up an interesting point over the last 24 hours on twitter.
Here are his tweets cleaned up a little bit:
here is why the nbc comments made by milbury and roenick are so damning
if that was lebron james driving down the lane late in ot and getting fouled and winning the game at ft ine the studio would love it
nba celebrates that. but no, the NHL puts two hacks on NBC and then they tell a national audience the best player in their game is a diver
even if crosby dove why say that? now " the casual fan" thinks crosby is a diver. well done
The NHL has 4 to 5 times a year to get to a casual fan. Now they let Jeremy Roenick and some hack former GM make their game look like a joke
The NBC studio show isn’t a talk show. It’a to sell the game / and its players Milbury and Roenick bring it down.
You can’t call Ovechkin a loser and crosby a diver then have a commercial “ watch AO vs Crosby. “#confused
A couple other's chime in:
difference between ESPN and NBC. ESPN hypes and builds players. NBC tears them down
NBA employs former greats of the league. NHL employs former goons of the league.
I think it's really a legitimate point. The NHL should expect it's sole US broadcast partner to help sell the league, not spend their few minutes in front of national audiences tearing the marquee players down. - rival22

While most Caps fans ires are more recently aimed at Pens and Rangers, I will never forget the many times the Islanders beat the Caps in the late 80s/90s.
I hope the two teams beat the hell out of each other and it goes to 7. |

Complaining about calls is pointless. Your team must put themselves in a position to either overcome it or have it not change their ability to win a game.
The Rags had two late PPs and didn't capitalize. The Caps did. |

I get so tired of the argument about being bad for so long...blah...blah...blah...seriously?
The Pens had 4 losing seasons in a row 2001-02 thru 2005-06 (with one year missed because of the lost season). Prior to that, their last losing season was 1989-90.
The reason for those bad teams in the early 2000's was money...there wasn't any. |
