Perhaps, but at least with a series against the Kings the "revenge" and " hate" factors would provide added motivation; While a series against the Blues could be slugged out in 2-1 games because it's apparent that goal scoring has been an issue with Vancouver.

Would have been plenty of dislike in the canucks/blue series too. They don't seem to like each other..Perhaps it started with this...

But yes. The lack of converting on chances is getting a bit frustrating, often the misses are not Quick saves or even quality Quick saves.

The bottom line is that this team and coaching staff was not going to win a Cup this year. Sucks to get bounced early, especially in a sweep, but in the long run with a deep draft this year it's better than making it to the second or third round. Change is coming and I'm looking forward to it.

Its a love triangle
MG loves Av
Av loves lu
Lu loves MG because of his lovely contract
This 3 guys or 2 (if lu wants to stay) needs to go in order for a proper rebuild or reload to happen

If Burke was your GM lapiere and burrows wouldn't be on your team. You guys can slag burke all you want, point is your roster wouldn't be nearly as hated as it is now since Burke at least makes his players accountable and drives them on respect.
- clark_griswold

Burke originally signed Burrows...

You obviously have never watched Burrows play—he's not in Lapierre's category. He busts his ass every shift, puts up solid numbers no matter who he's on a line with, and is an extremely versatile player.

Sure, he's chippy, but GM's like players like that.

I think New Jersey and the Islanders are in most need of a goalie.

Do you really think the Islanders want Luongo's contract?

Really?

Would you take a E.Kane straight up for Edler deal?

The reason that teams go on to winning the cup after they take the Canucks out in the first round isn't because they are the best team, it's because they essentially get a bye through the first round (and the Canucks get a bye bye!)

I will say that I feel 100% that we are a better team than what we've shown. How much better I'm not sure, we don't have the depth that we used to, but we're certainly not this bad. At this point it comes down to coaching and GM support IMO, both of which are lacking.

I didn't say LUONGO. I said A GOALIE ie: Schneider.
The Islanders have a good young team and a younger goalie like Schneider would really help them. The Canucks would get significantly more in return if they deal Schneider instead of Luongo.

Agree with this.

As they said in the panel last night, the Canucks are just playing "OK".

Except for the 3rd period—that was awful.

Yeah and from a starting Schneider perspective I questioned that logic yesterday after hearing Sekeres and Price essentially say he looked gaunt, pale, and not in good shape. He was also apparently hunched over between every drill and was even winded for the media scrum. Of course I'm not privy to more than that but taking them at their word that doesn't sound like a guy fit to start.

This is true, Schneider would fetch more than Lu. HOWEVER, every GM knows that Gillis is in a crappy position with his goalies and that there are cap issues next season in Van, that in itself lowers BOTH Schneider's and Lu's values and will be used against MG.

Complete mismanagement by Gillis on numerous fronts.

It sucks, but it's the truth.

I still maintain that if Schneider was healthy, starting him was the right move—he is the number one. But it doesn't sound/look like he's recovered 100%.

I still don't get all this drama from other fans about not starting Lou. Hilight reel saves are worthless when you can't save the easy ones when it matters.

Agree there's been mismanagement in some areas, but complete? The team made it to the Stanley Cup Finals and won back to back President's Trophies. They did everything except win a Cup. That's pretty good management. The problem is that they were managed and built to "win now." It looks as if their window is pretty much closed so they are going through what almost every single other NHL team goes through after a sustained time of being an elite team. What is happening here is not unique. Teams are average, then good, then elite. Some win a Cup during that time, some don't. After that it becomes a steady decline and then the cycle starts itself over again. Other than Detroit there aren't many other teams that can sustain a prolonged period of being one of the league's best teams. No GM is immune to bad contracts. The Canucks had their chance, now begins the decline.

We can get valuable pieces from all of them. Might be worth dealing a Schneider/Edler package for something like the #2 pick (MacKinnon) and Bjugstad. They've got a ton of prospects already.

PHI have their young centers which we've spoken of at length but Snyder would need to buy out Bryz.

NJ I'm not sure if there's a deal to be made.

NYI clearly have some offensive talent that would help us.

Edler and Schneider are crap?

Yeah, ok...

If you think it's a bad trade you can politely state that, and move on. Everybody's being civil here, for the most part—why don't you try it?
