If we wait 3 more years with the Sedins they will be the same as Iggy, traded after their prime .

The same could be said for Booth Kesler Burrows Edler Bieksa Ballard. The time to trade is when a player has value . In 3 years the Sedins may be worth a Trevor Linden Jersey

I said "at the time," meaning when Calgary started their decline.

All Calgary had then was Backlund, Neimiezs (sp?), and Irving, although I'm probably missing a few.

Right now Calgary's prospects are a bit better simply because they have the "blue chipper" that the Canucks lack, in Baertschi.

The Canucks cupboard is not bare. It just lacks that elite prospect.

Jensen, Corrado, Gaunce, Schroeder, Price, Blomstrand, Lack, Tommernes, Andersson, Cannata and Polasek all appear to be NHLers, with a number of wildcards in Labate, McEneny, Mallet, Hutton, and Grenier.

That's a better pool than Calgary had when they started missing the playoffs.

Ok yes at the time. Misread, took it as now and assumed it was going to be another your team is old and cupboards are bare response.

No. I really like Baertschi, and Jankowski could turn out to be a gem, as well.

Just worried about whether Bart can adjust to the North American game without his body breaking down.

He's already missed a bit of time in his pro career due to injury, hasn't he? And he's not exactly a big guy. Definitely has the skill, though.

Do you even READ what I'm posting??? I said IF used properly.

This team is UNDERACHIEVING.. they are much more skilled than they are showing.. even taking into consideration they have guys who tend to have more success during the regular season. This team is better than a first round exit.

Defense pairings don't make much sense right now.. and are being put together game by game.. same idea with the forward lines. Chemistry is important.. especially during a time where this team is having trouble scoring. Corrado down played having a new partner.. I played D for half my life.. in some pretty high levels of hockey.. knowing the idiosyncrasies and tendencies of your D partner are HUGE.

Being thrown a new D partner each night is NOT a good way to run a team
... I'm sick of this team being ran into the ground each night. Its getting ridiculous

I'm seriously curious if (injuries aside) there is another playoff team whose lines get juggled anywhere near as much as ours, especially the D pairings. I haven't seen it but I'm open to conversation.

I think he can handle the game. He had a weird injury in practice that took him out a few games, and then they kept him out for concussion precautions when in ABB.

I don't think there's any red flags

Janko...not sure. way to early on him.

I'm more excited about gaudreau and wotherspoon. And brodie proved he's top 4 this year. Good to see, so if the flames scoop up tanev they'll be all set

Goal situation is up in the air, no ones taking the reins yet. I'm just glad that they final moved on past leiland

Was impressed with these two, as well. Brodie being able to handle high TOI likely made it easier to part with Bouwmeester.

Liked Wotherspoon when he was paired with Corrado in the WJC tryout tourney against U of A Nice 2nd round pickup.

wotherspoon = gio in 3 yrs
seiloff = sarich

its a decent start.

Ya him and corrado played well together. I just hope for Gaunce, corrado, tanev, kassians sake AV moves on next year.

I imagine that is padded by the 3rd last game, but yes, the refs have not been helping. It's been fairly common for the Canucks to need to win in spite of the zebras. But we do get chances, the other team has just been cashing on theirs.

Make no mistake I think SJ has been the better team in this series. But it is an interesting stat given that make up calls don't seem to exist in this series. SJ scored 3 PPG last game. We really need to stay out of the box.

Don't want to seem like a troll, but Van took 12 minutes of penalties in the third period of a 3 goal game, where, lets be honest, they had zero chance at coming back anyway. So that period alone was a 10 minute differential. Plus the extra 7 minutes of PP time can probably be expect when for probably 6 of the 9 periods the Sharks have taken it to the Canucks, leading to more puck time/penalties drawn

Who cares? I use to blame the ref but this is not their fault. The canucks are playing pathetic and need to step it up. Block shots, take a punch shoot the puck and just play with fire. Stop blaming others and be named as whiners divers. Kevin bieska irritated me tonight! He has been pathetic

You do realize Thornton, Couture, and Marleau also "whined" to the media? Why is it always just the Canucks that get heat for this when the team they play always does the same thing?

It's part of the series, always is, and always will be. Just not quite as entertaining as the MTL/OTT media circus.

- Fosco

I'm sincerely not trying to stir the pot, troll, whatever you call it, but I see this as a fundamental issue that the Canucks organization should change. Bieksa is a GREAT player, but the crosscheck to the lower back after the whistle has been going on for years. AV's "poor poor me" face when every penalty is called against the Canucks, Burrows, Lapierre, Hanson cheap shots...and the icing on the cake is Kesler. I could see Kesler being single handedly responsible for the bad rap the Canucks get. I first realized this when he trashed Luongo at the Olympics.

The problem is, all of those players I mentioned are very good players, otherwise it would help to remove them from the dressing room. I just don't see them as having the type of "character" that wins. The Sedins deserve better I think.

The MTL/OTT thing is a waste of words, the Canucks or the SHarks would sweep them each four straight.

The Canucks lose because of their mindset I believe, not because of their talent.

My mind wanders to Kevin Bieksa who today whined to the assembled media in SJ that he thinks the way Thornton and Couture have reacted to slashes and punches to the face is "lacking integrity".

http://www.mercurynews.co...-sharks-logan-couture-and

Really? So now its "un-Canadian" is it?

Frankly the only thing "un-Canadian" on the ice this series is Bieksa's defense which is an embarrassment to a nation that prides itself on its hockey talent. Have the Sharks scored any goals this series when he hasn't been on the ice?

- hit 'em

This is an embarrassing quote by Kevin Bieksa. Very disappointed in him saying this. Lost a little bit of respect for Juice with this one.

The Bieksa thing was dreadful. I know he can be annoying and chirpy etc. but those comments were really weak. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and think he's just trying to stir the pot or something. He can't really think that, he's tougher than that.

This is your opinion , my opinion is they are right where they should be. The Sedins are getting slower and older. Every coach in the league knows to shut down the Canucks go put a man on the Sedins . Not rocket science. There are no other true scorers on this team.

Edler for years now is up and down ,and everyone is waiting for him to break out . Times a tickin.Bieksa I like that guy ,but I will let Booner break down his game for you instead.

We don't have a guy like Torres for the cup run team ,and we don't have a Rome type guy that was hitting everything in sight and playing on high emotion. We have one player that has elevated his intensity in one game . This is why we need change.

We make our own beds

We call out the Refs
We snub the CBC
We bite and pull hair
The NHL has even clamped down and labeled them Kesler like dives and Luongo like contracts.
Burrows had more 2 min penalties than any other player in the league.
We yap and chirp . Bieksa's new installment was priceless. We need to shut up and go out and play.

We need to face the facts the NHL does not like Vancouver
