I do like DK's idea about Naslund as GM though. Modo is the best team in Sweden and has been for some time.
- AlexF

I think the new GM has to have no previous ties. We need someone to come in with a clean sheet and do the things that need to be done.

I want the Cup, if playing like a New Jersey or Tampa Bay or LA or Boston or whatever style is going to win, then (frank) being watchable.
- DariusKnight

Disagree. If I have to watch St Louis or Nashville style hockey for 82 games + postseason every year I'm no longer watching this team.

Except the Canucks have more and better players than Calgary had, and also have a better prospect pool than Calgary had when they started their decline.

Similar path, maybe, but the Canucks are in much better shape, overall.

I'm pretty sure every team has the same number of players?

Gillis won't be fired IMO. AV was his insurance policy for this season. Just hire the right coaching staff and that will solve the #1 problem. Scoring and possibly a 3LC(if they don't like Schroeder) needs to be addressed.

I don't mind this d-core if Edler isn't moved.

Hamhuis-Bieksa
Edler-Tanev
Garrison-Corrado

The veteran guys will still get the most minutes since they'll be on the PP/PK/4on4.

I agree with this. Some of the Sharks dive, some of the Canucks dive, but when you're down 0-3 in a series is not the time to cry about it and call people so called Canadians. That comment was just weird.

And dude, it's 0-3. We're not about to reel off 4 straight wins (as much as I'd froth at the mouth if we did). It's over.

- AlexF

Re: 0-3 and it being over, yes it is probably true but I am posting on the Canucks' blogger's blog and I wanted to be respectful not a jerk.

Coddling our 5 mil dollar star Dman with a sophmore so he can play well is nuts. What happens if Tanev is injured in the playoffs ,do we play with the big Swedish void? If I am paying 5 mil for a Dman I want him showing the sophmore how to play not vise versa .

The Sedins cycle would work well on the second line and second PP unit. I am fed up with that laid back cycle between the two players.

Kesler IMO should be wearing the C and kicking asses and taking names ,including the Sedins (more so Daniel )

- VANTEL

It's not coddling. It's finding a partner whose skill set allows Edler to play his game better.

Many here forget that Edler was originally the defensive partner placed with Ehrhoff to "coddle" him and allow him play his game more effectively.

On another note, several times this year you wanted to trade Kesler for table scraps. What's changed?

Can't agree with the "C" comment. Kesler is not captain material until he cuts the crap from his game.

I don't have untouchables anything that can improve the team I do.

The Sedins remind me of Geroy Simon. Maybe we should hire Buono as our new GM

- VANTEL

You're right, untouchable was the wrong word, but to move any of those three the return would have to be so enticing that I just couldn't say no.

Much more enticing than this

Still more enticing than this

And even still more enticing than this

And finally, it would have to be more enticing than being able to eat an ice cream sundae off of Gemma Sykes ass in an Austin Martin Vanquish.

If I had to bet I don't think MG gets fired either but AV will. MG has struggled with the trade market ever since we lost the SCF. If he doesn't come at this summer with fresh eyes willing to take a few risks then I can't see success coming and he'll likely get fired to.

I wouldn't count out Gillis resigning before he has to deal with the coaching staff. I'm starting to question his whether he actually has the balls to make a bold move that doesn't involve his boss' bank account.

Far from it (saints that is). My point was Bieksa should shut the f*ck up, its the playoffs and in the playoffs you do what it takes to win. Nothing else matters.

As for coming out on top, it is 3-0, could easily be 2-1 and it ain't over yet.

So why are Thornton, Couture, and Marleau exempt from this?

Hamhuis has played well with everyone , Tanev has also . Looks like Corrado will also . Garrison looks like he is adapting. The only two that have trouble adapting are our two most expensive and our biggest liabilities
- VANTEL

Hamhuis has been sub par compared to what we've become accustomed to.

Tanev to this point has gotten seriously sheltered minutes, even compared to what Corrado's gotten so far.

You can't compare Tanev at 17 minutes a game to Edler at 27 minutes a game.

Edler's clearly not a good fit with Bieksa, but he seemed to play just fine with Ehrhoff, Salo(before the injury), Tanev and Corrado. Bieksa meanwhile has struggled with everyone except for when he was paired with an excellent defensive d-man(Willie Mitchell and Dan Hamhuis), clearly they are not a good duo and yet AV/Bowness not only had them as a pairing for most of this series, but actually had them playing the most minutes which is just ridiculous and absurd.

From what I've read and heard, he's considered to be a brilliant hockey mind so I wouldn't be against that at all as a bold, outside of the box hiring. He also comes from the Detroit system and style so he'd likely employ an offensive, puck possession style system.

Agreed.

Didn't Edler start yesterday's game with Corrado? Was so pissed off when I saw the replay of one of the goals and Bieksa and Edler were paired together again

edit:

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Tanev/Corrado
Garrison - Corrado/Tanev

this corps allows the coach to pretty much even out the minutes, and every pair is defensively sound and has an offensive threat, as well.
