I agree.
Gallagher gets 1 game
Bourque at least 2, possibly 3
Gorges deserves 5 if you ask me
Bad - jambodelta99
Gorges should be done for the series, that sh!t he pulled was bush league.
Bourque is a repeat offender so that elbow he threw should take care of him for the series as well.
Not sure what Gallagher did but I saw what Prust tried to do at the buzzer. He turned into a clown in a hurry.
The Habs really got exposed as a team full of chumps. Not a fan of Ottawa either but I like how they exposed Montreal for the frauds they are. |

Larry Brooks:
Kreider, Newbury, Gilroy, Hamrlik and Haley skating with practice squad. Thinking no Kreider tonight.
Andrew Gross:
Staal first defenseman off the ice during options. Doesn't necessarily mean a thing. |

Subban deserves something for throwing punches while Turris was on the ice |

I doubt we see Kreider again these playoffs with Boyle, Dorsett, and Clowe getting healthy. |

The other teams playing have a 3rd and 4th gear they can find, it just seems the rangers are stuck in 1st 2nd and neutral most of the time. Very concerning - jambodelta99
I see lots of criss crossing, net jamming, heavy hitting in other games. Rangers skating up and down their wings. Need to create more confusion and havoc. Defense has to be more involved offensively. That's Where the caps have a clear advantage.

Clowe in for Pyatt or Asham, that will likely be the only change. - MidnightMarauder
I agree. I would prefer Pyatt come out, but it will probably be Asham.

They also have a lights out power play and Rangers have a lifeless one.
I agree on this team needing to be more aggressive offensively and taking more chances. This style they play needs to be opened up a bit more. Playing it safe will get them eliminated and quickly at that. |

Defense needs to get more involved in the offensive attack more. Del Zotto is at his best, when he is joining the rush. That is when he is most effective, and they need to do more of it to creat offense, because what they are doing right now isn't getting the job done. |

It makes sense for Clowe to sub for Pyatt, as they are both left wingers. Would love to see a third line of Clowe-Brassard-Dorsett. A Nash-Stepan-Callahan line needs to be reunited and a Hagelin-Richards-Zuccarello second line looks alright to me.
Boyle-Powe-Asham fourth line is fine with me, but they need to be as physical as possible. Having last change is going to help the matchup game tonight. |

Pat Leonard tweeted that the expectation is that Clowe will be in tonight for Asham. |

Del Zotto and Moore are capable of joining the rush and opening up the offense. Tortorella needs to let the reigns go a bit. It does no good to play how they have been playing so far this series. Caps are always involving their blue line on the offense. I know Green is a deadly offensive weapon but the Rangers have some good skating defenseman that don't ever jump in.
That simply has to change tonight and for the rest of the playoffs. |

What a joke, that means Dorsett slips to the fourth line and a third line of Boyle-Brassard-Clowe seem likely tonight.
Ridiculous. |

Glad its so easy to just roll the dice with a guys vision for life. This guy is 2 weeks removed basically saying he still has double vision and you want to put him at risk for permanent vision damage from probably just a moderate hit at this point to get out of the first round?
- FourFeathers773
Did you evebn read the post? I said if they win the series can go 6 and we roll the dice with a game 6 that can either win us the series or lose it. READ THE POST. i said its ultimately up to the player and nobody here or in the organization is rushing him back...geeez some people!!! |

It is not just one bad bounce. Sure, they win in overtime its a 1-1 series, but they haven't been impressive all year long. This team's current level of play is simply not good enough to do any damage, unless Hank is out of this world. And, even when he is, the team still can't win if the score 1 goal in two games.
They need to be able to score against good teams, and I am sorry, but scoring goals against teams that mailed it in during the last 2-3 weeks of the season, just doesn't impress me.
They can be better, but time is running out. They need to raise their level of play, and turn this into a series. Otherwise, it will be complete reevaluation time at year's end. - Pete V
My point is if Nash scores on the breakaway the feeling is much different on this board. |

I think an interesting debate to have after this year will be whether Slats managed changes to the forward group of last year's team properly in the off-season and in-season. Not whether the Nash trade made sense, but whether all of the moves, collectively, made sense? |

Also - Holtby is the epitome of class and if he wants to share a FACT then he damn well can. It sure was an easier night for him - who are you to disagree and QQ about him stating that? Like I'm actually peeved he would say that BECAUSE of the fire it should light in the blueshirts' bellies...like c'mon.
Don't worry about what were saying. Worry about how you play on the ice. - blondinwrx
You obviously seem bothered by what's being said here so heed your own advice and worry about your team tonight. We didn't go to the Caps thread and start talking crap, you came here.
And regardless, it should have been a penalty. Even all of the announcers I heard said it was a penalty during and after the game. Doesn't much matter now does it. |

It would have made sense if Tortorella was flexible enough to modify the style of play this team plays.
Nothing wrong with a little offensive flare infused into the general plan of attack. Rangers run a pretty stale offense and there is next to no creativity, other than Nash going solo or Zuccarello and Brassard making creative plays on occasion. Everything else is dump, chase, hope to get the puck and cycle until someone gets open.
That is weak and not compliant to a succeeding offensive game plan. |

If you subscribe to the idea that Torts will get to start the season next year, maybe he does modify, maybe he felt uncomfortable doing it for one, or he thought the new guys would just replace the old guys seamlessly and it didn't happen? I am just throwing that out there. Torts is a coach that from the outside, looks at the 82 with a full camp as a real process, he doesn't seem like he'd be comfortable with a system tweak without having an off season and a full camp plus preseason games plus the first 20 games or so to carve out the identity. I'm not saying its right or wrong but he did coach a fairly high skilled team in Tampa and while they defended well they were explosive. So its not like he can't coach that way....
Yes I used process...sorry |

Assuming that the Rangers don't turn things around, as the General Manager, the first question I would ask the Coach is why so many players have underperformed this year, relative to their career averages? Is it just coincidence, or does you feel that the coaching has anything to do with?
My second question would be: Why is the powerplay so consistently bad? Is it me? Am I not getting you the talent you need? Or should I expect more?
And my third question would be, how do you intend to make next year different? |

If you are the GM, and the Rangers lose this series in 4 or 5 games, and look pretty much like they have looked in Games 1-2, would you make a change at Coach? Or would you let the Coach start the next season? |
