I really think his play will improve once Staal can play his normal minutes again. Still a really friendly cap hit for a 22 year old 4 year vet.

True. He's trying to hard possibly

Maybe fowler for him? Both need a change if scenery?
- jambodelta99

that's an interesting proposal. del zotto for yandle?

i would love to trade del zotto+ for evander kane but i dont know if WPG would want a defenseman plus unless mcilrath is ready next season, it could leave us pretty thin at the position.

Yea DZs days are numbered. He really is digressing unfortunately
- jambodelta99

The regress is actually not shocking, he is a horribly inconsistent hockey player.

He's also what, 22? Easy on pegging him as a bust.

he's playing too many minutes. now that staal is back and moore is emerging, he should slot back into the role he'll play best at.

honestly, i don't think he's been playing that bad. he's not scoring but he's playing solidly defensively i think.

I think DZ has been ok. I would keep him, I know some people have talked about trading him but he only makes 2.5 mil and he is a talented player. He's still very young and has a good amount of experience already. He will only get better IMO

You are putting words in my mouth all night tonight. I didn't call him a bust, I called him a player that is regressing.

The talent is unquestioned but I worry about the lack of progress on both ends of the ice.

What's your deal dude, I was just stating my opinion on Del Zotto and you said something I didn't say. I am not mad, I was just pointing it out.

My deal, dude, is all the usual BS. Everyone is hammering DZ, all the time, you too even if you didn't say exactly what I referenced. Whatever. It doesn't Franking matter. I get tired of the negativity all of the time. Sorry if you think I singled you out. Tired of the franking sniping back and franking forth on this thread. It really didn't used to be like that even when this team really wasn't that good.

That's fair and you are a very positive fan. I am definitely one of the more cynical ones on the board and that often translates into disagreements between those that are more like you and those that are more like me.

Bottom line is that, no matter what I say about a certain subject, player or team issue, I respect most opinions on here. You are often one of the more levelheaded regulars and I like the perspective you bring.

I unfortunately am that of the knee jerk, typical New Yorker who tends to get carried away with my emotions.

All in all, most of us here bring something to the table I feel. Whether we agree or not, I respect your opinion.

Now RangerSaver, that's a whole different ballgame.

And I respect you as an intelligent, if passionate, poster even if I don't agree with you all of the time and I apologize for getting chippy. I would like to think that we'd all be happier after a Rangers win but with still a tough road to hoe it's hard to be too pleased.

Bieksa complaining about Thornton and a couple of other Sharks diving/embellishing and not playing the game with integrity and maybe the Canucks need to start doing more of that too.

Umm, you play with Ryan Kesler the biggest embellisher in the league and your team is considered the dirtiest/embellishes the most already, so how much more can you amp it up?

Wow. Do you know who led this team in ice time tonight? It wasn't Girardi, McDonagh or even Staal. It was Derek freaking Stepan with 23:57. He had almost a minute more than Girardi (22:58) tonight. Given he is a forward and how heavily Torts relies on the top D, Step leading in ice is surprising to me.

richards is 100% gone as far as i'm concerned. maybe not this offseason but the next one for sure. i'd feel pretty confident with stepan - brassard - miller - boyle/powe down the middle.

Step had a nice game tonight. I am surprised he had more minutes than Girardi though. Step is really becoming a main guy for this team quickly.

Staal's return balanced the ice time out for the blue line. That and the bevy of power plays they got in the first half of the game played a role in the ice time allotted as well.

Stepan's a power play fixture plus the top line center now so it makes sense he got a huge portion of time.

If Powe can't go Wednesday and Clowe still isn't ready, one would think Kreider gets back in, right?
