Brassard and Boyle were excellent tonight.
- MidnightMarauder

Boyle was good, except for that lost faceoff. Zuccs too.

Like I said, I understand the collapsing D thing, they are trying to fill lanes and banking on point shots being low percentage shots. But Green needs to have his time and space closed down. It looked like they did a little of that....

Whoa, will you please (frank)ing stop gviing the (frank)ing puck to Ribeiro, he doesn't (frank)ing shoot. What the (frank) is wrong with these (frank)ers. Lazy back check by Backstrom, miscue by Green..two goals that shouldn't have happened. Wake the (frank) up.

Maguire was all over that with Ribeiro. I was surprised too. He really didn't want to shoot even though he had open looks. Strange setup with Oates having called a time out I believe.

Your team played well. Ovie disappeared tho til his Emmy appearance
- jambodelta99

it probably grazed him, and like every single hockey player would in that situation, he sold it. What else do you want?

I figured you and Madcap were having a stroke with that PP....that was...something. I'm not sure what...just something.

He never shoots, and the Rangers know that. That's why they basically gave him a lane. He never shot in MTL or DAL either, it's his MO. Like Getzlaf or something.

Strange setup indeed. Put someone on the side of the net in the high slot to take away a PKing forward. Simple. What the (frank) Oates.

It was all game, not just at the end. Caps defense plays a major role in their attack and that collapsing defense is not working too well against it.
- MidnightMarauder

i agree, I think the key is closing Green down. Its crazy but i think they are comfortable absorbing

I didn't either but Crosby and Ovie have mastered the art of deception. Congrats on that
- jambodelta99

And kudos to you guys for killing the penalty...although I'd suggest OV did a better job of looking like he'd been shot than Sid did.

Green had all day several times. Carlson is dangerous and apparently so is Jack Hillen(half-kidding).

Their needs to be a few adjustments, just can't stubbornly play the same style all of the time.

I make it a habit to not talk about officiating. Considering we didn't score here, what's the deal?

Do you want me to bring up the laughable too many men on the ice? Again, talking about the refs is pointless. The Caps did not deserve this game. Lazy.

I was expecting him to do a flip. I hope JT takes lessons from those two tomorrow.

Agreed, this was worse than Crosby yesterday. At least Strait's arm was draped on Crosby a bit. Ovechkin completely sold that penalty.

Boyle's goal was huge. It was virtually a PP goal and he took the puck right to the net. He attacked Green. That's what we have to do in offensive zone. Go at Green and their D. Attack. Get players to the net. Don't hang back and try to make a pretty play because Washington D will eat that up.

They don't have to change the style as much as they have to account for Green. I will take my chances with Carlsson and the others. They just can't leave Green alone. He is lethal. I just think they are comfortable absorbing, its crazy, as a soccer coach, I see this all of the time at all levels but you can keep several players up the field and actually counter, in hockey you can't play with that kind of depth bc its only 5 on 5.....I am not saying they will survive
